How Jigsaw Puzzles Are Made

My family and I are big puzzlers. We exchange them back and forth, and have a lot of fun doing them. One thing I've always wondered (which is not addressed in the video) is: with 1000 pieces, how can they be sure that no two pieces are exactly the same size and shape. They never seem to be, although some of them are very close to being identical. I guess their puzzle-cutting machine is somehow programmed to make each piece a little bit different. Really amazing, when you think about it!

The White Mountain puzzles are my favorites.

I use a website to do jigsaws and they have a system
that allows you to make your own jigsaw from pictures
that you have, you can only build them online though.

My friend makes them by hand from a photo we can give him.. they're made from wood... and beautifully done.

When my daughter got to be 18, I got him to make her a wooden jigsaw puzzle out of one of my favourite photos of her when she was a toddler...it was and is lovely

I still have it.. she wasn't interested in it 5 minutes after I gave it to her ...

I wish the video had gone into more detail about making the puzzles. My favorite type of puzzle is Springbok. I've also done many Buffalo puzzles (the maker of the video.) Don't recall ever solving a White Mountain puzzle. I will try one.

I like Springbok too, because of their crazy piece shapes.
