This SF board has discussed this several times. What is going on, is the Military Industrial Complex, corporate news media is being pressured to regularly come out with these SS is going to be reduced articles because the last thing they want is to have ordinary citizens be aware that if the current ridiculously low cap is simply raised say to over $1,000,000 where it should be, there won't be a problem. The sooner that happens, the sooner the funds will again grow back to workable levels. It's the fault of corporations, the rich, and their politicians that we are in this situation.
They want their politicians to keep kicking it down the road as long as they can, instead of being forced to do so sooner. If nothing is done, then yes it will be a disaster for the rest of us, while they are laughing, retired playing golf in Palm Beach and Palm Springs. Don't be fools citizens!
USA Social Security won't end at least during the next couple decades that this person may still be alive during, because we citizen voters would strongly protest. As it is, the reasons funding has become a problem are all due to Wall Street corporations, financial institutions, and their politicians, economic system of endless growth and development. They are now holding their ridiculous pyramid scheme bag.
So they may complain that they do not want to increase funding out of their pocket, but then it is THEIR FAULT we are in this situation. Same way they don't want to face the vast national debt that is causing increasing inflation.
Yeah, I've mentioned that several times on this board in the past. The whole puppet media narrative of Wall Street and both political parties, of "We need more people (population), more births or immigration to support future Social Security payments." is a huge LIE. The obvious solution has always been to raise the maximum income rate that can be taxed for SS. Although that maximum has been incrementally raised since 1977 per average wages (now $184k), it really needs to be raised to say $1,000,000, not just $250k.
But that is the last thing wealthy people even want to hear, so they will do about anything to keep that quiet. It is the wealthy and corporations that got us into the situation, so they ought be the ones to pay for it. Instead, we get excessive illegal immigration, horrible homelessness, and high housing inflation (that financial and real estate corps really really love). A prime example of how a majority of US citizens are so easily manipulated by news media and unable to think through such issues themselves, and why I personally just want to hide from it all.
I've been reading articles about the proposed reductio in SS payments for at least 10 years, if not more. At first it was articles by financial analysts on financial sites, then I saw it on the SSA.gov website, but it seems they quickly took the notice down. I wish I'd screenshot it when I saw it.
