How long is your oldest friendship?

My friend whom I knew from the 3rd grade, (cousin's neighbor) before his family moved to town, to his death in an auto accident was just shy of 25 years, My SO ongoing since '68 - present @ 57+ years. My oldest & closest sister who has been & still a friend for 77+ years.

I have a long time friend but haven't talked to him recently. He hasn't called and I'm tired of calling him when he rarely calls me. I'll just wait and see how long it takes him. I've known him since I was 15 or going on 53 years. He used to walk me home from school way back then.

My BFF of 48 years was my music teacher first and we became fast friends. She's been my rock and has helped me thought some difficult times. She's always been busy, often traveling due to her career as a pianist for various artists and musical director for theater groups. so we didn't talk nearly as much as we do now.

Ever since COVID, we've been talking by phone almost daily. Among the things I'll never forget is about 7 years ago she was about to go on stage, but took time to call to see if my youngest grandson, who was in the ER because he had been hit by a car, was going to be alright. She lives out of state and when she's up here, we make time to have lunch. She and my son call each other Nephew and Auntie.

It depends on your definition of friendship. Does long distance friendship count? A good friend from childhood or college who still keeps in touch (text to say happy birthday or merry Christmas) but haven't seen for years. Does this count as friendship? If it does, I have several long distance friendship like this that last for >40 years.

I'm still good friends with 3 girls I used to go to school with. We meet up for a Coffee or a Lunch. We are all in our 80's now and don't seem to age. I'm also good friends I met on my first day of working. That was when we were 15 years old and although three have passed away, the last 4 of us are into our 80's as well. You can't beat old friendships.

My oldest/best friend is my wife. All of my other friends have passed on, one only a couple of years ago.
I met my wife when she was 17 and she'll be 90 in a couple of months. She was 19 when we married.
that's amazing.. how do you live with someone for 70 years and not become ostensibly the same person... thinking the same things, at the same time etc... do you find that ?.. and second question much more personal... what do you see in the 90 year old in front of you.. do you still see the 17 year old?

We met when we were 11 years old and have been friends ever since. I can take little credit for our lasting friendship as, it was my friend who always made much more effort than me and I am so glad she did.

Another friend I met when I was 23 years old. We haven't met up for a while but are planning to meet next month. It will be great to catch-up.

The ex-colleagues group I meet up with, I have known most of them for about 20 years.

Old friendships are, I think, the best as they have survived the test of time. I am lucky to have them :)

More than 70 years. We still keep in touch by email but sometimes she forgets to check her mail for two weeks. I guess I could pick up the phone but I don't.

I've had a male friend for 22 years who lives in another state but we talk by phone at least twice a day. He had his hip replaced recently and is doing very well.

My husband died in 2001 and of the 16 members of my widows' group I am the only one left.
