How Many Months of Snow Will You Have?

Not sure how much we'll get, it varies from year to year. Sometimes none at all, and sometimes a few weeks of it.. so after the hottest summer on record I'm fully expecting a very snowy winter...

Love this picture.

You never know.

Some years we've had significant snow for Halloween and sometimes it doesn't snow much until after Christmas. Sometimes we have snow for Easter and sometimes it's gone in early March. The only thing that we can be sure of is that it will snow.

We usually get around 120 inches of snow but last year we had around 87 inches.

Our all-time record was 192 inches in the 1992-93 season.

The Golden, not to be confused with yellow, Snowball award is given each year to the CNY city with the highest total snowfall.

It really depends. Sometimes we get snow from Nov. - Apr. and other times it's warm with hardly and snow at all, but sadly, the latter is the exception. I hate snow and cold and dread this time of year especially with a pandemic going on. Warmer weather does help and I can't bear to imagine social distancing lines when the temp is below zero F.

I know where yer goin' with this, but for my world, are there any recordings your uncle might have made?
Sorry, no. He passed away in 1994 of Parkinson's. One of my favorite singers for hymns was Jim Reeves. He had a remarkably velvet voice. One of his songs you might like is We Thank Thee. I tried to find it on You Tube for you, but it has been removed. There is one album on there with his gospel songs.

No snow here or at least it is rare & disappears in minutes.

Keesha's post #6 reminds me of the years we were able to look out at that kind of scene on our property in Penna. Exchanging hot chocolate and that view for green vegetation & BBQ anytime works for me at this time of my life

Have you thought of moving away from it?

Not if you add Butterscotch Schnapps to the hot chocolate.

Just sayin'...

This is New England so anything can happen.

Usually, we'll get snow in late November though mid March. Sometimes it stops in late February but March is scary. You never know. Some of the worst storms have been in March.

Several years ago CT had a massive ice storm in late October. Trees snapped off everywhere, dragging down power lines and knocking out transformers. Not the usual for October, but then you never know around here.

And people wonder why I prefer to winter in Florida. Best part about Florida is that you don’t have to shovel sunshine.

I had my share of watching the seasons change and shoveling snow.

When I moved from S California to upstate NY in 1974 (junior year of high school), I was Soooo excited for the first winter! And it was great in many ways. But once you have to drive in it, shovel it (sometimes with the city plow pushing the snow back under the car before you can move said vehicle), and generally get very tired of having cold toes and hands, it loses it’s novelty 🙄. In the 30+ yrs we’ve lived in S GA, I think it’s snowed enough to stick maybe three times

Here in the northeast U.S., the bulk of the snowy season can start anywhere from mid-November and last through early April. This is a screen shot of the average conditions at Albany, NY - the closest National weather station to me:

That's a lot of snow for a lazy old lady to shovel.

My wife likes cold weather, hates the heat. I like hot weather, hate the cold. She would prefer to retire up north. I would prefer to retire down south. Odds are, we'll stay just about where we are.

How much snow???...wish I knew. Accuweather.com says the Midwest will be a roller coaster with periods of warmth, and nasty cold....which is almost normal for this part of the country. I don't mind a couple of inches, but those foot, or more storms can stay North, IMO.
