How many of you have a IPhone.

I have a PC and a IPAd and have had several laptops in the past. Now, with much pressure from children and grand kids I will break down and get a I Phone next month. I just hope that with my severe hearing problem (even with my state of the art hearing aids) that I will be able to hear from the device.

I have an iPhone and an iPad, and I think that you will not have a problem hearing when you use the iPhone. It has a volume control, it can also be placed on speaker, and if you wanted to, you could even use it with headphones, with the headphone jack.
I love taking pictures with the iPhone because it puts the pictures right into my Photostream, and I then have the picture right on the Ipad and the MacAir, without having to download or do anything.
Then, I use the iPad (which is easier for me to see what i am doing) and do any necessary photo editing.

With the iPhone, you can get iMessages, just like you do on the iPad, and you can also get regular text messages like you would on any other cell phone.
I don't do any surfing on my iPhone because I have the iPad, but I can do that as well when necessary.
Another thing that i like is when I want to listen to music or a motivational tape when i go to bed, I use the headphones, and it is a whole lot easier than packing the iPad to bed with me.

All in all, I think the iPhone is a great phone, and I would not want to go back to any other phone after having mine for the last year.

No reason to spend that much money on status. A smartphone does more than I need it to but it's next to impossible to get just a basic flip phone anymore.

I finally broke down and got a smartphone. It comes in handy when I'm out of town. Easy to check emails and a couple of websites. But when I'm home, I use my Ipad type device(Nook) for internet related stuff.

The IPhone has nothing to do with status. It's a tool that simplifies many activities. As for cost. The phone itself is pretty cheap and the monthly cost is greatly reduced by going on a family plan with five others and sharing the gigs.

I do NOT have a cell phone or any of the devices mentioned....

Don't need any of them...

As for a phone, the phone in our house only rings about 4 or 5 times a MONTH.... That's right... A MONTH !!

I still have a flip phone. Should it break, I guess I'll have to get whatever is the next simplest thing. My worry is, it won't be simple anymore! Since I'm single, I don't want to be on the road without roadside assistance and a cell phone. I have a cheap plan with low minutes.

I have both an Iphone and a Blackberry .

The blackberry takes excellent quality pictures but I have to physically upload them to my computer which is a pain, the iphone pictures are not such good quality but as HFL already said they go automatically into my photostream so they are already uploaded and ready to use straight from the computer.

Overall for telephone services and usability I prefer the blackberry because I prefer a querty keyboard. I have a lot of electricity in my body so touch screens behave erratically when I'm using them and it's very irritating..but again the iphone has features that the blackberry lacks with regard internet use, so I have both. One for work purposes and the other for leisure use.

Yes, I have an I-phone, and an old I-pad.
i have a lap-top; but only use it for photos and flash player..

Kitties, that's the reason I got a smartphone...no flip phone available. I've had my smartphone for a year and it's only been in recent weeks that I've found usable things on it. Yes, it took that long! The darned things keep getting bigger and bigger. I wish I could find a phone that fit in the pocket of my jeans.

Most of my kids have an IPhone but I have my trusty TracPhone for emergency calls. I do have an IPad Air which I do all my computing on. My desk top is there only to attract dusk.
However, as a cost savings, we are going to do away with desk top and landline phones and just use our cell phones.

I have an Iphone 4 that is several years old now, I love it and I'm still learning new things about it. I wear two hearing aids and have no problems with it, I do have to wear special earphones when I walk and listen to music, but that is because of the aids, not the phone, I am on my granddaughter's AT&T plan, I pay her $120 per year for that...I love Apple products, just recently bought an Android tablet and wish I had gone with a mini Ipad.

We had flip phones until early last year when "upgrading" became available to us. Wife had talked to me before about getting an iPhone when the "upgrading" date came, but I just wasn't sure. After getting our tax refund, we decided to get two iPhone 4s. They were half price for us and we have a Family Plan and share minutes. We are somewhat of a "modern technology" couple and LOVE our iPhones! When our computer is off and I want to look something up on the net, I use the iPhone. Things I couldn't do with our old "flip" phones, I can do with our iPhones. We have news, weather, sports, traffic, store bar-codes (for discounts) apps. I only have two games, but my wife loves playing the games and has numerous ones on hers. We also have Apple FaceTime, so I can talk to her "live" (seeing her) on my phone (so can she w/me). It's totally cool! Would never/ever go back to a flip phone again!!

We got rid of our landline some 8 years ago.

I have an iPhone 5, an ipad and a laptop. I have used an iPhone for quite a few years, and am very happy with it. Use it for text messaging, web browsing when don't want to take ipad with me due to size, have also read library books on it.

Recently found out Amazon.com has over 600,000 ebooks that you can have unlimited access to for $9.99 a month. They have a catalog of the books in most all genre's, and also audiobooks.....I like it.

No cell phone.

I pity people who go through life tethered to those stupid annoying things.

I have an iPhone (my husbands 'hand-me-down) but I'm certainly not tethered to it. It lays on the floor by the charger until either one of my kids calls, my mom or if I go out in the car by myself. Last thing my husband always asks is 'got your cellphone?' If I ever had an accident or a problem or he did while I was out, we can get help. If you have a cellphone, the chances of driving off the road and being stuck on your own is minimized greatly. But it's up to you to decide if you want to be stuck or not.

Debby, I'm there with you on that. I just have a little flip top with no texting or any other apps. It stays on the charger unless I go out somewhere, and for the same reasons as yours, but I've just never cared for phones.

The biggest problem I had was realizing my phone was the one ringing instead of everyone's around me. My husband could see my wheels turning, and could tell I was about to chunk the little nemesis.

He fix me, he put a loving recording of his voice encouraging me to see who might be needing me as my ring tone.
It always gets my attention, and everybody around me. Most people get a giggle out of it. :giggle:

Oh that's so cute! I can just hear it, 'now come on dear, you know you gotta answer' or 'pick up the phone sweetie'. How adorable!

The ring tone is tis, "Hello Ina, this is your ever loving husband calling to let you know someone needs to talk to you. So my darling please answer your phone. It might be your ever loving husband wishing to talk to you.

A few other's like it, and are doing with friends and family.

My cell phone is a no contract one and costs $7/month. I use it only for making and taking calls. It's a "Virgin".
(And it fits in my pocket, BTW)

I have OnStar on my Envoy for hands free calling and OnStar ALWAYS knows where my vehicle is. It provides
many services while on the road. If I accidentally lock my keys in the car, OnStar will open the door for me by GPS.
This costs me $19/mo. Wouldn't be without it. Don't need anything more.
Should my vehicle be stolen (or hi-jacked) The cops can find it while it's being driven.

Sounds like your husband has a great sense of humour you lucky lady!

We had Onstar for a couple years in a leased vehicle but if my memory serves me, we paid more like about $40.00 per month in Canada. Not so cheap here.

Still living way back in the 20th with an old land line phone or two...
