How many pairs of foot ware do you have, take a guess.

Running shoes, boat shoes, dress loafers, dress lace-up shoes, Keene sandals, LL Bean boots, more boat shoes, slippers, reef shoes, two pairs of Sperry sneakers, golf shoes, hiking shoes, fancy loafers with a buckle (which I never wear), big clunky Merrill shoes for wet weather. More than I thought.

That was an interesting exercise. Went into a box of old sporting goods and another box and found 8 old pairs of footwear now in the trash bin. So the official number is 14 pairs. I wear a regular width EU size 42, that is US women's size 9.5, and US men's size 8. Have worn the bolded pairs within the last year.

#1 are a pair of swim fins I wore long ago for body surfing. Rarely used for decades.
#2 flip flops I wear to venture outside briefly or as camp shoes I keep near my front door at frame top.
#3 a pair of business casual shoes I haven't worm since retiring.
#4 is a worn back-up for #5.
#5 are my cheap street shoes I wear most and wear out soles quickly due to street dancing.

#6 are neoprene surfing boots I sometimes bring backpacking to ford icy cold streams
#7 are down booties I often wear during winter.
#8 old but still clean tennis shoes I used to wear playing table tennis.
#9 is an old set of cheap hiking boots that still have decent soles.

#10 are water wading boots for wading into ocean surf while fishing.
#11 are modern cold weather rubber felt insert winter boots.
#12 my old Kaufman, Sorel Caribou felt insert winter boots that still have excellent soles.
#13 my recently received Zamberlan $380 list hiking boots. Actually, a women's model (functionally unisex) I bought on sale for $281.
#14 my very worn sole and beat up but still usable older Zamberlan hiking boots.

Now that's a good post, thank you David. I too have one or two pairs of shoes. To keep them in shape they live on a "shoe tree" in the bottom of the wardrobe. The shoe trees are in racks on which nine pairs will sit.

Here's a couple of those shoe tree racks complete with shoes.
I do have a few more, but you've probably guessed that.

3 pair I wear most of the time, 3 pair I never wear ... I tired to ...
Mostly wear those Sperry's down front year round these days
And the rest are incidental or as required. Think I need to clean some footwear up

One thing greatly bothered me about my favorite and highly recommended waterproof rubber boots, made in Canada. I initially felt as though I was disrespecting the Canadian flag with every step I took, what with the maple leaf on the sole heel of the boots. Did I mention it bothered me ... greatly.

So I reached out to the Canadian company and it was explained to me thusly ...

The maple leaf on the sole of Baffin rubber boots is a symbol of Canadian identity and pride. Including the maple leaf emphasizes that the boots are designed and tested in Canada, often for harsh Canadian winters and rugged terrain. In short, the maple leaf is a functional design choice with symbolic and branding significance, reinforcing Baffin’s identity as a premium Canadian outdoor footwear company.

The maple leaf on Baffin boots is a symbol, not the full flag. The Canadian flag is specifically the red-and-white banner with a stylized red maple leaf in the center. Using just a maple leaf icon is different. it’s more like using a national emblem than the full flag and Baffin uses the maple leaf to honor Canadian identity, not to demean it and not as something to be stepped on in a negative sense.

In Canadian culture, using the maple leaf on products (even on soles of boots, hockey gear, or vehicles) is widely accepted, even in places where it might be scuffed or worn. That doesn’t equate to disrespect. Canada generally has a more flexible and pragmatic approach. While the flag itself is treated with respect, the maple leaf is used much more freely as a patriotic symbol.

In short, while the concern is understandable, the use of the maple leaf on Baffin boot soles is not seen as disrespectful in Canadian culture. It’s actually a form of national pride. Standing on Canada, in this case, means standing with it.

... I feel better now :)

For those here still in the running for the prize for having the most shoes, unless you actually post an image showing all your shoes, we won't believe you. It does appear @horseless carriage and @Naturally in the men's division have me beat at this point with 15 shoes versus my 14 though I think I am still on top using total shoe weight? But I do expect @MaidMarian has been holding out waiting for @hollydolly to play her hand with the rest of us mere paupers.

You state, ALL your shoes. My two pairs of work boots, a pair
of wellington boots and two pairs of slippers are not shown.
I would be lynched if I put work boots on a bed!
