How many prescriptions do you take?

I take 3 prescription meds... Lexapro for mood, Trazadone for sleep and Finasteride to keep my hair.

I also take enough supplements to fill up each section in a 7-day medicine organizer. 67 and everything still works. So far, so good.

13 years ago my cholesterol was creeping up, but rather than taking a statin I discussed dietary changes, supplements, and exercise with my doc, to deal with the root cause rather than medicating the symptom. I managed to keep it at the high normal level for 10 years but it was a struggle.

Finally my doc urged me to start taking a statin, at the lowest possible dose, explaining with humor that I’d have to live a LOT longer for the adverse long term side effects to be a problem. 🤣

Since Devin died I’ve been on two separate anti-depressants.

I also take many supplements a day, morning and evening. Like @Pepper, I too rattle!

...Finasteride to keep my hair.

Have you ever tried rosemary oil? I've had major hair thinning a few times due to autoimmune issues and during the most recent read about and started using rosemary oil with excellent results.

The linked literature review mentions a study that found it works as well as minoxidil. There are lots of articles online with before and after pics.

The first medicine I've ever had to consume regularly is hydroxy urea for my rare polycythemia vera bone blood neoplasm condition I was diagnosed with in March 2022 at age 73. A quite safe medicine without side effects. Otherwise, have avoided all pills, vitamins, pain medicines except for brief issues. Because it is a daily dose that changes between one and two pills depending on day of week on a weekly basis, Amazon bought this inexpensive, small, 4 inch diameter plastic pill container that visibly helps me remember if I've taken pills on a given day.

Easy to forget on days I am involved in unusual activities with day trips. Have been very consistent since using this. Refill the container each Sunday and leave the covers open after removing pills for given days. Just swallowed 2 pills for WED and will swallow 1 pill tomorrow, THU. Were it not for modern medical science, thank you KP, I might already be dead and gone but now could easily with a bit of luck reach 3 digits.

AHHH, you people with only 2-3 prescriptions..............
I have 12. I swallow 25 pills/day.
That's 9,125/year
If its any consolation the husband went into the donut hole every year in January.
Them diabetic pens are hella expensive. Not to mention all the other good stuff like Celebrex and Pradaxa.

Off topic. After the husband passed there were thousands of unused meds to deal with.
I dont know anyone so I tried to give them to the church etc. No one would take them because they werent sealed.
I tried to explain thats the way they come from the pharmacy. Thankfully all the diabetic pens were in sealed boxes.
I ended up dropping them off in the police station drug disposal box.

I take 2 for blood pressure, and a baby aspirin daily. An arthritis injection monthly.
My D3 was messing w/my heart a little so I stopped that for now.

Levothyroxin -- thyroid
Olmesartan -- blood pressure
Metoprolol -- blood pressure
Omeprazole -- acid reflux
Zocor -- cholesterol

Here, we can drop off expired or unused meds at the pharmacy for disposal.

My pharmacy doesnt do that. Its a small town so the police station is right down the block.
Drop off was very convenient.

My issue was there are people who cant afford their meds and Im tossing thousands in a drop box.
Thankfully the diabetic pens were in sealed boxes so a church took them.
He had just gotten a 90 day supply of both pens and all the rest of his meds.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. I have male pattern baldness and I started losing hair around the crown. I tried Minoxidil for years and it kept coming out. Now that I'm taking Finasteride I'm no longer losing hair, and I haven't seen any side effects. I will check out the Rosemary Oil though!
