How Many Sick Days Did You Take In The Lat 10 Years Of Jour Last Job?

I took two back-to-back days off in the last 20 years of my last job due to severe back pain.

10 years? none. when i retired i had 180 days of sick time off accrued, which was the max. I received -0- (zero) dollars for that upon retirement. I also had 8 weeks of vaca, and I was paid for that.

By the time I had to quit, I was out of sick days, and vacation. I cxouldn't walk anymore.

I retired 28 years ago so that is something I cannot recall however I was in management with pretty much as many days as I wanted. Back a few years before retirement I had spinal surgery and had 94 paid days due to complications with the surgery. Company continued to send my check via mail. I was worth the investment on their part.

About the only time I can recall was about 5 years before I retired....I had a bad case of the flu for a couple of days, and figured it was better to pray to the ceramics at home than at the customer's facilities. That's about the only time I had to take off from being sick....I was lucky.

As a teacher, I had 10 per year. I pretty much took 'em all. I considered them mental health days. I scheduled them thoughtfully, but by God I took 'em.

Over the 12 year span of my last job I took mainly a day here or a day there, not many. Longest stretch was when I had to take several weeks after my hip replacement.

None, except for the year I was flattened by influenza -- I took a week and 2 days then. I probably should have taken the rest of the second week because I was still pretty weak.

None-because working as Supply(substitute) teacher if I didn't go in I didn't get paid.Plenty of days off though!

Ten years ago almost to the day, I had 340 days banked, Had the car accident, had to use 120 days to take me to LTD (Long Term Disability), got those 120 days back, and when I retire in a few more years, I will be paid for half of them..

The last sick time I took was back in 2013 when I had surgery. I took 10 days off. I can't remember the last time before that. And I haven't stayed home sick since then. I very seldom get sick, which is a good thing because I'm self employed so if I get sick I don't get paid. No paid vacations, sick days, nothing like that.

I rarely called in sick at work,maybe 2 or 3. we only got 6 sick days/yr
When I had my knee surgery in 2004,I was on disability for 3 months
When I decided to retire in March'11,I didn't care anymore,called in whenever I didn't feel like coming to work

This made me proud:We had one of our guys being off several times per year because he was sick. No one doubted him as he was a very good worker. I overheard on of the guys respond to the supervisor question, "Is he here today?" "No, he called in sick." The supervisor relied, "Does he know we work sick?" (and we did)

None..I have been retired for 20 years, but I never missed any days because I was self employeed for the last 30 years of my working years. Retiring is the biggest mistake I ever made and I made plenty, somehow I survived. I wonder, am I the only person in the world that feels like I am living on a cliff?

It would seem that the question has more to do with one's health than how "heroic" they were about showing up for work. If I'd had a heart attack or a broken leg, I'd have taken all of my sick time and probably more besides.

I was one of the lucky ones and had a load of sick leave still on the books when I retired. They paid you for one out of every 5 days that you had on the books at retirement so some of us got a decent amount of money, if you hadn't had a serious illness or accident.
