How many times have you moved house as an Adult ?

K12 went to 11 different schools mostly in California. Longest as kid I ever lived in one place was 4 years. Father (aerospace) moved for job and financial reasons purchasing mortgages for each new homes we lived in yet never gaining much wealth. As young adult after HD from USAF, moved to Santa Clara County where I moved at least a half dozen times before settling in at the relatively secure 2 story 4-plex townhouse I've lived at for decades.

Main issue for this financial peon even though I've always been able to afford fancier residences is a large accumulation of usual stuff over decades becomes a pain to move and more importantly, in my very expensive area, new rents shot up to much higher levels than where I'm already at. Also tend to be satisfied with cheap minimalist living, not envious of fancy residences. Don't have an impressive home for enviting others over as guests but rather a humble hideout to run my complex outdoor oriented life from.

Over 25 times. First moving in with my then husband, left him and moved in with a roommate and went to school. Moved out from there into another place. Left there for Reading PA and couldn't hack it on my own, so back to ex. Realized mistake, moved out again. Went from there to a really nice apartment with my child, and lived there ten years. Then moved again when the tenants became dangerous. From new place, left for new job in CT. Lived in three different places there due to job transfers. Back to PA. Three more moves, then down to FL. Moved five times. Back to PA again, moved just twice. We plan to sell the house when hubby retires and who knows where we will end up?

Lived in 8 different foster homes until finishing High school. Then 4 different ones while in college. Then 4 in my first marriage. Then in Los Vegas lived in one, then down to Tucson, Ariz in one; then Back to Syracuse, NY in one - where a fire made it necessary to move to another. In my second marriage, we lived in 2 in Anaheim, Cal; then One in Sacramento, Cal. After that we lived in Washington State where we lived in 4 different homes and I moved to the 5th and last where I have lived since 1978 for 28 years - so a total of twenty-seven different homes since early childhood. It's a tract home in a middle class neighborhood, but it's mine and it has been all paid for since 2002 and I love not having been uprooted to move elsewhere in all that time :)

When we were young, the family moved 5 times and then we settled in a suburb of Cleveland where we lived for over a decade. I moved out after college and lived in 8 different places (mostly apartments). Then moved 4 more times with late hubby (Ohio to VA to DC to MD) My present home is the longest I've lived in - 13 years - and I've grown very fond of it.

I moved 5 times between the ages of 21 and 24. My father and I had a falling out and I left without really having a place to go. A co-worker offered to let me stay with her but I was only there a couple of weeks. She had rats. Not long after I moved out the building caught fire and she was burned out. My cousin, who became like a sister to me, let me stay with her for a couple of weeks. Then I moved into an apartment in the house my co-worker's best friend owned. The apartment was nice but wasn't "legal"(I found out later). And her friend turned out to be not so nice. One of my cousin's friends who had also been a classmate needed someone to move into her house to help her pay her mortgage after her husband got sent away. I stayed there until my mother, who was living in this new complex, convinced me to move here too. I thought I was renting but found out a couple of years later, when we got our stockholder's certificate, that I owned the unit.

If an adult is considered 18 Y/O or older, I've moved 8 times. The first two were apartments in Tampa, FL after I moved out of my parents' house. The third was a small house in Largo, FL when I was in my 20's. Then I moved to Miami with my career and rented a condo and bought another in the same complex. I met my Hubby, we lived in the condo for a couple of years and then bought a "villa"... an attached house in the suburbs. We sold it and purchased a home when I was in my early 40's. We sold it in 2005 and bought a home in Dallas. We have lived here for 16 years... the longest I've ever lived anywhere. I have no desire to move again.
