How many vehicles have you owned.

We don't have as far to go, as we've already been
In the 50 years that we've been married, wife and I have been through a boatload of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and racecars. We sat down the other night and started a list. It was crazy. Some lasted only a short time, some got wrecked, some weren't all that good looking, (rusty for instance) and others were traded for other cars or parts, but, one thing they had in common was all were owned and driven by us at one time or another.
So, has anyone else had this crazy lust for American Iron? Here goes..... 😲

Did you own a car dealership or something? 😮

Here's my list.
1957 Oldsmobile Super 88
1971 Plymouth Fury (as main police cruiser I was allowed to take home)
1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass
1986 Chevrolet Celebrity (for the wife.)
1998 Toyota Camry
2021 Audi SQ5 (recently given to my young son.)

I don't own any car right now and I'm still looking.

In the 50 years that we've been married, wife and I have been through a boatload of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and racecars.
Wow! I can't compare to that. How many do you still own? Here is what I can remember, in order:

Cars
  • ~65 Renault Dauphine
  • 70 Toyota Corolla
  • ~48 Ford Pickup
  • 75 Datsun Pickup
  • ~70 Ford Station Wagon
  • 83 Toyota Pickup
  • 86 Toyota Corolla
  • 87 Ford Pickup
  • 90 Volvo Station Wagon
  • ~90 GMC Jimmy
  • 95 GMC Pickup
  • 00 Chevy Pickup
  • 08 Chevy Pickup
  • 17 Chevy Pickup
  • 20 Subaru Ascent*
  • 21 Honda Ridgeline*
Boats
  • ~65, 12 ft Aluminum with 5 hp engine
  • ~80, 17 ft Aluminum Grumman Canoe
  • ~88, 18 ft Aluminum Grumman Canoe
  • 96, 16 ft SeaPro
  • 98, 17 ft Plastic Canoe
  • 00, 26 ft Shamrock
  • 13, 21 ft Tidewater
  • 13, 19 ft Aluminum Grumman Canoe*
  • 20 ? ft Kayak*
No motorcycles, planes or helicopters. However I do have 2 ATVs, a tractor, and a riding mower, not to mention my list of bicycles...

*The ones I still have.

The list is longer than I would have guessed.

Between wife and I, 41 cars. One was an S-10 pickup, 3 SUVs, 17 convertibles, 5 station wagons, the rest were coupes and sedans.
Every time we got a sedan, I ended up wishing we hadn't. They were American, English, Swedish and the Japanese SUV was made in Tennessee.

For 20 years I did not own a car, I drove company cars. My wife had her own cars during that time.

3 sailboats, 2 outboard motorboats, all on trailers.

8 popup campers, 5 travel trailers.

We are now down to one convertible.

Perhaps a dozen...dating back to the mid 1950's. When I was working I seldom kept a car for more than 100K miles. Now that I'm retired, we probably don't drive more than 4 or 5K miles in a year. My truck is a 1997 Dakota with 108K, and in fine shape, and the car is a 2006 Impala with 80K, and also doing fine. Unless they develop a major problem, or I win the Lottery, I have little interest in spending thousands for a new vehicle, especially during these times when new vehicles are in short supply and dealers are getting premium prices.

Amazing isn't it when you start thinking back. Ha... reading the replies reminded me about, boats, ATV's, tractors, trailers. The list gets ever longer. :ROFLMAO:

Too many to remember.
My brother & I ran our own distribution company for fifteen years.
All the truck and vans that we had during that time would fill more
than a few pages here and probably bore you all to tears.

So, here's a few more memorable ones:
Packard.jpg
The Packard! A fabulous Yank-tank but oh so impractical on UK roads.

Morris 002.JPG
A little Morris Eight, little is the word,
that bay that it's parked in is a supermarket parking bay,
just big enough for a modern day car.

on the harley.jpg
Harley Davidson, in the days when I sported a beard.
For those interested it's a Heritage Springer.

Poole Goes Vintage 01.jpgChristchurch quay 006.JPG
The current classic to grace our garage, an MG Y-Type, goes by the name of Jessica.

Sooooooo, what was your favorite?
That's a tough one. So many variables. As far as a go fast favorite, I'd say a toss up between the 33 Chevy, and the 455 Trans Am.
For comfort, it's hard to beat the Lincoln. (the wife agrees) ;)
For practicality I'd say the Suzuki Grand Vitara (that I still have) would top the list.
As for sentimental, the one I liked the best was my 55 drag/high school car.

I can remember most of them approx 12... but apart from the year of my first car.. I wouldn't be able to remember the years I owned the others.... I also had a 50 cc Moped, and a Honda 250 CBR in the early and late 80's ..and sit up and beg Dutch style Push-bikes when my daughter was little and had a baby seat on the back and basket on the front.,

My very first car was an 850 mini...

my current car is a Ford Fusion

Over the last 62 years, I have owned 27 cars.

LOL, most of them I would prefer not to remember. I paid less than $100 for three of them.
Thinking about them reminds me of the lyrics of that old country song: "heartaches by the number, troubles by the score ......"

Finally, my financial situation enabled me to start buying fairly decent cars and keeping them for a long time.

Not nearly as many as you, but somewhere around twenty or so on the property now, not including heavy equipment, farm tractors, motorcycles, and ATV's. Trying to cut back, and have slapped myself a few times while perusing Craigs list, and FBMP. Almost succumbed to a 56 Studebaker Commander, but am attempting to not buy anymore until I finish, and or sell the ones that are incomplete. Which should be around 2035 or so. :)

I had a 53 Packard for a short time. I took it by sea from Norfolk VA to San Diego CA, when my ship changed it's home port. It was a big time gas guzzler. That didn't work on a sailors pay.

My first convertible, a 38 Ford had a rumble (dickey) seat.

When we lived in Arizona, I had a street legal golf cart. It was 19 years old and had never been on a golf course.

Here is my list of autos I have owned more or less in order of purchase over the last 53 years. Oh, the memories.

Just as an example, today I visited National Parts Depot in Ocala Florida. We had a tour of their collection of rare autos. They had the 50,000,000th Chevrolet that rolled off their assembly lines. It was a 1963 Impala SS 2dr hdtp, paint was Anniversary Gold with black bucket seat interior. My first car was one of the approx 6,000 1963 Anniversary Edition Impalas that commemorated that event.

How many vehicles have you owned

First was my '54 Chevy 2 dr post
$300
15 yrs old
Ran it to the ground
chevy 2.jpg

2nd was my 62 Chevy Impala SS
Sweet little 283
$2500
payments of $56 for a couple years

62 ss fin.jpg

Then a bunch of junk
10 or 12 autos

A few new ones thrown in
mostly pickups

fast forward to now

'93 Jimmy
V6
full size bed (that's huge for me)
Can't seem to kill it

93 jimmy.jpg

My '99 Wrangler got us to town and back when living at our mountain cabin
The 'heater' in it is in name only
More just a blower
(A/C in the winter)
Bought it new in '99
$11,999 cash
Pretty good stump jumper
Gotta be a bit careful in keeping the wheel side down
jeep.jpg

Latest purchase was the '51 Willys
Unfortunately I was too busy with building to rebuild it
So......it became yard art, sitting there near the cabin......mocking me

yard art.jpg

Prolly around 30 some rigs
Most forgettable, but......they got me to work and back (usually)
