How may times have you moved in your life?

I know a person that never stays anywhere more than 6 months. It isn't because of work; she stays local. She even inherited a house from her parents and didn't stay there. When asked why she moves all the time, she just shrugs. All that moving would seem like a huge hassle to me, but then if she isn't telling, I can't know her reasons.

How may times have you moved in your life? My family moved once when I was 4 years old , but that was from one apartment to another larger one in the same building. Then again when I was 23 to the house in which I am now living. So twice for me in 67 years.
 

22 times as my father was an engineer and we moved from project to project then when I was married we were in the service and we moved around from post-to post and overseas.

Hey, Deb...know a woman that never wanted to have anything more than she could stuff in her car. She was a very high paid major oil company employee...would move back and forth between Houston and LA, with her belongings in her car.

Must have been a gypsy in a past life that was a good life...ha ha. To each their own. Possessions and belongings don't bother me. We enjoy our surroundings!
 
I've only moved 3 times in my life.I don't count when I was away at college because I would always spend the holidays,summer at home
Our family moved to the suburbs in the 70's.I moved into my 1st and only apt for 10 yrs '77'-88.I moved into my co-op apt building in '88 where I still live today.Its located 2 blocks from my childhood home,like to stay in the same neighborhood
 
20 times. a few moves were short distances, (under 100 miles) but, most were thousands of miles at a time. 12 of the journeys were to the 12 houses I have owned, 1 was with the folks as a youngster, and the rest were rentals while I was house and job hunting.
We've always had feet of sand, and wondered what was around the next bend. ;)
 
I'm still in the house I was born in. The only times I've been away was the 4 years in the military and 3 or 4 years when first married. The house has never been out of our family. Built in 1921, by my grandfather, it passed to my folks, to me, and since 1995, to our youngest daughter and family. We gave them the house and retained a life lease to live out our days here. I'm 86 now, my wife's 83, so we shouldn't be here too much longer. :)
 
I've lived in Italy (one place), Venezuela (one place), Massachusetts (3 places), Connecticut (5 places), Florida (2 places), Arizona (5 places). So, 3 countries, 4 states, 17 residences. I get itchy to move every 5 years, but old age has made me lazy, I think I'll now stay here until I croak.
 
Countless times, I couldn’t even say, I’ve always been a gypsy, I’ve been settled for a few years now but have itchy feet and wouldn’t mind one last move...
 
I must be a rolling stone then, but probably not as
much as Wren!

Between the Military moves and working all over the
World mainly in construction, it has been a lot, I tried
to remember them all a few years ago and lost count
at 63 different places I think, yet I have lived here for
18 years so far.

I have no intention of moving again, either. The idea of starting over cold in a new area, finding all new contacts, friends, doctor, dentist, shopping, etc., leaves me, well, cold. I did it so many times that I never want to do it again.
 
Oh, my. It's exhausting to even try to count them. Lots! Three degrees at two different universities as well as the ability transfer as better positions opened up in my career unencumbered by family = lots of moves.

As long as you're reasonably happy and not miserable in your present residence staying put is the best thing to do. I'm reasonably happy in my new 14 year old house and don't want to move again even though I still get those gypsy urges. I've always wondered how much more money I would have if I had not moved 17 times and changed jobs even more times.
 
About 17 times .. Province to Province, City to City, across the Globe - and, it was
all easy for me even though I did all the packing. It was an experience!
