How much do you like Hallowe'en?

It's me again, spoilsport O.S. Just a short survey! Is there anyone else in this forum that hates Hallowe'en? No religious reason, I have just always hated it for its ugliness! I know that kids love trick and treating, so I won't start a campaign to ban it. Just wondering!

Was always fun when our kids were little . Don't hate just not interested in all the excitement it generates for kids. Our "little one" is 52 now that excitement left many, many years ago. Here no kids get dressed to go from door to door. They have different organizations that offer candy & SAFE way for kids to have fun.

I always used it as an excuse to watch some vintage horror films, no matter how corny they were. The Screaming Skull, The Alligator People, The Fly, The Return of the Fly, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Haunting etc.

I enjoy it as the requisit beginning of the fall season. When I lived in my house, I kept it dark as I did not want to deal with the goblins and such. Now, here in my building, no kids coming around

I still enjoy it as it gives children of all ages a chance to dress up, go out and have fun.

When I was a kid in the UK, we didn't do anything for Halloween. Our night was November 5th, Guy Fawkes Night. That's when we built a big fire and burned an effigy on it while attending a firework display. We did sometimes go door to door, uttering "Penny for the Guy". The "guy" in this case was effigy we'd made. The one we were later to burn.

I think it has gone overboard in the commercial sense, but see
nothing wrong otherwise....only once had kids stop here, course

My daughter and I always decorated our front entrance for Halloween. Haunted House cut-outs, spiders & webs, Jack-O-Lantern. The kids all appreciated it, and it gave us pleasure to see that they did.

The kids have fun - that's a plus for me. I enjoy dishing out the sweeties and seeing their little faces. We get a lot fewer here than we did in the old town, but that was a much more family based area.

Used to be my favorite holiday. I loved inventing costumes, and going to costume parties. Stopped doing that a while back, but I still get a kick out of those who do it.

I loved Halloween as a child. Now I can live without it but still maintain some of the spirit of the holiday.

I don't like it but I have been playing around with a Halloween Avatar today which has been fun. I also posted a haunted house GIF in another thread which I regret a little now because I don't want it to scare any children who may wander onto this sight from Google. I definitely stay away from devilish things or cultish.

I grew up near Salem Massachusetts. Let's just say it was a family tradition. Booowaahahaha!

It was a big tradition in Scotland when I was a kid.. England didn't know anything about it until a few years ago.. so now they've fully embraced it...

I liked it as a child.. but not now as an adult..

I'm referring to the costumes, the witches, the skeletons .. the ugliness of it all! In my eyes!!! I can't comment on anything else since I have lived in secure buildings for years and no one ever comes to my door! Some people make a fetish out of it and have their whole houses uglified. Ah well, the kids seem to love it, but I've never liked horror movies either and my grandchildren were crazy about them. Thanks all, I am enjoying your input! I would even dish out "likes" but still don't feel that great! Not seriously ill, but under the weather at the moment.

I never understood how people liked it so much... even as a kid was often forced by mom to just dress up and go out with friends / sister ... i simply did not want to .... candy was ok but not worth walking miles in cold in my area snow on Halloween was not unusual.

as adult my kids enjoyed it so spouse helped them with costumes and would walk neighborhoods out of way but close enough to watch them

i usually turned off porch light which is suppose to say not participating but had some candy to hand out just in case....
now i live in area that we have never had a trick or treater
so all is fine would not even know it is halloween time except commercials and movies on TV .

It's not an official celebration in the UK... however people do have some fun with parties, kids trick and treating etc.
I don't do anything anymore, but I have some lollies available for when the witches, wizards and ghouls arrive at my gate

I am totally against Halloween. Sure I liked it when I was a kid and I put up with it when I had little kids.

Right now, I'm 77 and about the last thing I want to do is to celebrate death. I'll be dead soon enough but why in the world would I celebrate it?

Love it! I love dressing up in a costume and going to a party or event. In fact, I'm going to one tomorrow night.
