How much do you value peace and quiet?

A lot. And noisy kids can especially unnerve me. Maybe it triggers memories of chaos as a school teacher. 😂 So yeah that says more about me than them of course.
I love peace and quiet now. maybe one day i will change my mind.

Vital to me. I live close to a childrens playground and the sound of children enjoying themselves can be quite pleasant, but why do they have to scream and shout right outside my window? Right now, it's first thing in the morning and it's so peaceful....

I crave peace and quiet. When I was younger I loved the chaos, but now I’ve noticed that I have a very low tolerance to noise and at times wear earplugs when in noisy places like restaurants.
Precisely me... I just cannot stand noise any more..especially children screaming.!!

Not that long ago, children would shout , cry, laugh, etc..no probs, now they just SCREAM!!!!!

Privacy is very important. If you have privacy, you will normally have peace and quiet. We live on several acres, you can go skinny dipping in the pool, and the only real noise we hear is when a plane goes overhead. Otherwise its birds chirping and once in a while a deer snorting or hoot owls or hawks talking to each other. Have a friend that decided she wanted to sell her house. She had a couple acres of privacy, and had lived there for years. She sold it and moved into an end townhouse on a golf course. Now she is wanting to sell again, as the noise is driving her and her dog nuts.

Its a wise person that knows they're own selves.

Several years ago I attended a meeting in a community hall to look at ways of creating a peacefull enviroment.....I left after 20 minutes because they were all shouting and arguing with each other.
Too funny, Ferocious. I can just imagine. That's about par for the course on those "how to seminars".

I hate noise. Especially barking dogs and loud music. Traffic noise is annoying too.

Most nature noises on the other hand are fine. Birds singing, frogs croaking, crickets, cicadas, ocean waves, running water in a stream. All that's cool.

I live alone. And I'm disabled in a wheelchair. While I can still drive, going places is more of a challenge than a pleasure, so I'm somewhat isolated. My home is at the end of a cul de sac. I am surrounded on three sides by State game lands, which merge into the State Forest. It's quiet, here. It's way too quiet. I don't have to search for a few minutes of silence; it's around me every second of the day. Day after day. I keep the TV on most of the time, just to hear some life noises. None of my neighbors have young kids anymore, and I miss hearing kids playing.

Quiet is the worst thing for me - due to severe tinnitus. When it's quiet, I hear several high-pitch ringing tones and two low-pitch tones - one of them is exactly like standing next to a generator & the other sounds like a loud fan.
My procedure for falling asleep is to have the TV on low, set to turn off in 30 minutes; hopefully, by then I'm tired enough.

Love visiting my sister in La. on their farm. I sleep so good there! Check out the new baby calves, take a peaceful walk among the pecan trees, fish for catfish and bass, fry them up for supper, and relax with good conversation by the pool before bedtime. I would move there in a minute if there were better medical facilities.

I agree with most everyone, except I like to hear kids playing as long as they are not screaming. Laughing, giggling and just playing making "playing" noises are all OK. I was in the supermarket just the other day and there was this kid about 4 or 5 screaming like a banshee. It was like someone stepped on a nerve in my brain that went clear through me. I couldn't get to the other side of the store fastest enough.

I love all the sounds mother nature has to offer other than that I want complete peace and quiet. Some sounds that I detest don't even have to be loud but the repetition of them drives me up a wall. Kids with the basketball hoops in the driveway. Tap,tap, tap, bang. Over and over. Don't they ever miss? Or the kid who sniffles every 3 seconds. Can't he just blow his nose. How about the constant rhythm of the kid kicking his foot against the back of your seat in a movie theater? They have that down to a science.

Me too!

wait.....

.....it's a loud fan

whatever grade of tinnitus I have, I get the ringing (too many high power rifles without ear covers), but I get the ocean too...so, not bad

Definitely value it. We live on a few acres in woods so some of the suburban noise is at least muffled. Our travel is mostly to national parks and hiking where we see few, and sometimes, no people on trail and only get sounds of nature. Ditto on biking ---- try to get trails in the country rather than urban.
