He got a good price, I've seen them for almost double that on Amazon, but the size may be a factor. No, I wouldn't; they don't appeal to me.

I've been thinking for quite a while now that a weighted blanket would be really nice to have... but haven't bought one yet. That said, nope, I wouldn't pay $150 for one because there are a number of good brands making them that are considerably less expensive.Would you?

Most all my covers were bought in the 80s and a few throws recently. On average they went from about £10 to 15. In king size (which here is the Canadian Queen Size).

Noppe not a chance £150..no... I have fleece blankets which are super warm, and cost just £30.... I've tried weighted blankets which were nowhere near £150, and I didn't like them at all.. I felt like I was being pinned down, plus all the little microfibre beads kept leaking out of the seams... maybe £150 wouldn't leak..lol

Weighted blankets are used more for combating stress, anxiety, depression, etc. than for warmth, I think. They are also very popular in the autism community. As far as I know, they aren't often bought only as a regular blanket or quilt to keep warm, but for the other benefits. Let me find a reference... okay, here ya go.

The “trick” to a weighted blanket is to find one that's the right weight for you. If it's too heavy, it feels oppressive; if it's too light, what's the point?
What's interesting is that a few years ago, when weighted blankets started becoming popular, I realized I'd already been sleeping under a weighted blanket for years! I still sleep under it. It was crocheted out of wool many years ago by my grandma, and it's the perfect weight for me. It keeps me warm, snug, and secure, and I sleep better under it. Yes, I do.
In the summer months when there's no need for a blanket, I miss the weight of it when I sleep, and I just don't sleep as well without it.

A blanket's a blanket to me. I don't recall buying one in years. If we need to we can double them up. Had an electric one years ago but never use it now-a-days.

As kids, our bedrooms were in a poorly-insulated converted attic. It wasn't too bad most of the time, but when the wind blew in the cold, cold Northern winters, it was frigid up there.
I'd usually have a couple of blankets and a couple of my grandma's very heavy quilts on top, plus the bedspread. To this day, I like weight on me at night but that's hard to take here in Florida, even in winter.
