Email is now my preferred method of contact now. Every year I change my phone number and give it to certain people. However this year I didn't give my new # out to anyone.
People must email me if they want to reach me, and it is working. My phone is only used for outgoing emergency and very important calls. Absolutely no personal calls.
It's very peaceful and quiet now. Especially on weekends and evenings.
Have 3 primary email accounts but only monitor one frequently. If at home, am on my new desktop computer far more than watching tv or anything else but requires annoying 2-step notification to log in so don't often. Easier to use my old smartphone that doesn't require the annoying 2-step notification that I usually don't bring along while driving locally.
I check it when I notice that there are messages, several times a day. I also check the spam/junk folder constantly because occasionally something important or of interest lands there.
It’s the only email account that I have and can’t imagine why I would need more than one.
I am amazed when I ask people this and I get replies anywhere from every few weeks to never. I check several times a day since that is an important communication venue for me.
Only 1 of 4 accounts daily. The other 3 rarely have anything in them and the one I use most often, I've cut down big time in receiving many emails. Most of my friends have passed, so I rely more and more on just texting with those I wish to chat with.
Of course I get other emails I often don't even bother to read or respond to. Just don't interest me too much these days.
When my last computer died I got out of the good habit I had in keeping up with my email. Then, on phone & tablet, got out of habit of checking in with them. Now, on "new" (used) computer finding it hard to remember to check in, and am hundreds of letters behind at each of my three emails.
I went from a laptop to a tablet using 2 email accts. Check multiple times a day. With vision problems cannot get used to cell phone or texting. All my people know they have to send emails to me but can text Dad...but don't call Dad's phone...call landline. Lol. Sheesh.
Four accounts and I start the day by checking them and continue to do that throughout the day. I used to check my physical mailbox everyday. Rarely ever do that anymore.
I have an add-on that minimizes Thunderbird to the system tray when closed.
Sitting there, it automatically checks the email servers for new email every 4min (I think 4min)
I have a sound file that plays a little "ding" when new email arrives.
^^^ that is on my main desktop home computer, hooked up to Fiber Internet, and the computer is never powered down.
I never check my email on my phone or laptop. Maybe I would if I were away from home for days or weeks at a time.
EDIT: Ah-Ha ... I see I mentioned this back on 18FED2024 on the first page of this older thread. Nevermind LoL
