How Often Do You Do Laundry and At Home or Laundromat?

I do 2 loads a week, sometimes 3. There is a very nice, large laundry room on a lower floor.
$2.50 for a regular machine, $3.50 for the large machine and $2.50 for a dryer.
We have electronic cards and pay using a cell phone through Bluetooth. A physical refillable card is also an option.
When I move at the end of this year, I will have a washer/dryer in unit!! YAY!

I live in a small apartment building and there's a washer and dryer in a room downstairs. I was clothes about once a week there but my cleaning lady washes my sheets and towels for me. I used to take my clothes to a small laundry service when I lived in a different area here, because it was pretty inexpensive. A week's worth of laundry would cost about $4 to do. But when I moved closer to the downtown area, the prices increased accordingly. That and sometimes the laundry service might close for a few days for a funeral or just be closed because they can. Things aren't as rushed here in Ecuador. That's a pain at times but overall, it's part of the appeal of living here for me.

Once a week, my own washer & dryer. When I hear about people in condos & apartments & time restrictions, power to laundry room being shut off by 9:00-10:00pm, limited number of machines etc. I feel really spoiled - especially when I sometimes do laundry at 2:00am when I can't sleep.
My house was built in 1954 & older houses had large laundry rooms. If I wanted to, I could put a bed & TV in it.

I like that Pay by Phone thing, very nice! When I had my condo, I had a washer and dryer there at home. But there were a couple of laudry rooms that were available to use for those who weren't as fortunate. When I first began living there, the laundries used plastic tokens that you could buy from the HOA office. That cut down on theft, I'd assume. In later years they went to a smart card, it had a chop in it like a credit card, that you could load with money but those boxes got emptied everyday, again, I'm assuming here, because they were located in the laundries themselves. But the minimum you could load onto it was $10 I believe.

We are not allowed to have washing machines in our apartment complex but we can have electric dryers. So for me it's a combo. I wash downstairs in the laundry room and dry my clothes in my apartment. Doing laundry at laundromats has become so expensive! At least our machines are discounted here. The double loaders, the only ones I use, are $2.30. At laundromats I've gone to the single loaders are $2.50 and doubles are $4.00. The driers are 25 cents for 10 minutes. Forget it if you have a bunch of heavy towels and clothes! If I don't do at least two double loads a week, I fall behind. A few months ago I had to go to a laundromat do play catch up. I'll have to suck it up and get my son to take me again because I have some larger items like comforters and queen sized blankets that won't dry well in my apartment sized dryer, even though it's only slightly smaller than a full sized dryer.

Where and how often do you do laundry?
Once a week at home,

I wash about 2 loads a week. More in the summer and when I do curtains, comforters and anything else that isn't nailed down.
I have a very large laundry room and have drying racks that holds most all my weekly laundry.
I think the only things I ever put in the dryer are socks. under ware and towels.
My back porch is one step from my laundry room. I have 2 lines that can easily be taken down if need be.

All the apartments I ever had always had a washer/dryer. I do my washing once/week; Saturday morning. One week I do the towels and bedding and the next week I do my own personnel laundry. I still do some ironing once in a while but someone laughed at me a couple of months ago when I said this. Maybe I'm behind the times? I don't know.

I have never lived anywhere ..and I've lived a lot of places, where I didn't have my own washing machine in my own home

Ours is done once a week, and normally it is just 3 loads. Often a couple of the loads are very small.
OOPS I do it here at home. Is been at least 60 years since we did our laundry at a laundry mat.

Lucky you!
My last apartment had ensuite laundry and I sure do miss it.
Today I did one load which meant four trips on elevator to basement.
There is a very nice little library attached with comfy chairs but closed due to Covid.
I used to sit there during the wash cycle and go upstairs during dry which is 10 mins longer.
We have a machine there which allows one to put money on the card with bank card so no coin worries any more.

I do my laundry at home perhaps three times a week. If doing a bedspread, I may trek to the laundromat where they have bigger washers for oversized loads. I just want to catch the gnomes who are stealing one member of a pair of socks just to mock me! 🧦
Might I suggest getting mesh laundry bags to put you socks in for the wash? Or spin the drum because clothes can hide up in there. Smaller items may drop on the floor unnoticed.

I saw a laundromat a few weeks ago when I was shopping in another town. First one I've seen in many years....
We've got quite a few in our area but I really don't like going to other laundromats if I don't have to. I was thinking I'll get my son to take two bags downstairs for me before he leaves for work, which is about 3:20 a.m. Nobody is down there at that time. I'll wash one double load and bring the clothes from one machine upstairs to dry like I usually do. In the meantime, I'll let the bedspread and blanket(s) dry down there. They'll be easy to bring upstairs once they are dry. I like the solitude when I'm downstairs by myself.

@Judycat Even though I have to go up and down a few indoor and outdoor steps then more steps leading down to the laundry room, I don't hate doing it. I just usually wind up feeling good that I got the laundry done. Basements can be depressing places but at least our laundry room is brightly lit. We just need new flooring using different materials this time.

I do 3 loads a week. There is a laundry room on the lower level of my building. It is $1.75 for the washing machines and $1.50 for the dryer for an hour. I hang all my clothing upstairs in my shower and use the dryer for towels and sheets. I budget $40. a month for laundry but don't usually use it all. Sometimes I do 2 loads one day and towels and sheets the next day.
I too have a studio apt. Washer $2.00
Dryer $1.75
All new washers and dryers.
This building of 4 floors is 8 years old now.
I had to use quarters because they took out all the card readers.
How I was doing laundry
The new application is changed within a month to another that I can't seem to download.
I had to ask my cousin to mail me quarters so I can finally have a chance a new of clothes to wear
She lives in Texas I I'm Maine!
I am so upset about this bs.

Use a netted bag or pin together
I use the large netted bags for bras and socks.

I wonder why they did that Autumn?! Seems like they took a step backward in time as well as causing an inconvenience.

That makes no sense! Most people don't even carry cash anymore let alone rolls of quarters. I would complain to the management and the laundry company. So this means on your pay/check day, you need to get a couple rolls of quarters from the bank. I think one roll is $40. so that may be enough for the month. They will lose money by that change.
