How Often Do You Dream About Dead Relatives and Friends?

From time to time, I've dreamed of dead loved ones, but in the past couple of weeks, every night I dreamed of someone I loved and lost. My husband was in several. In one, I was even fussing at him, like I would have in real life, probably because he was making us late again. I also dreamed of one of my best friends (he was my husband's friend too) who passed unexpectedly a couple of years ago. Night before last, my brother was at the tail end of a dream, just for a couple of seconds. I also had dreams about my uncle, grandmother and DIL during that time. I do not know what the escalation in frequency means.

I seem to dream about dead relatives when I'm even more stressed than usual. The dreams are always sad and disappointing, being scolded by parents and told how disappointed in me they are, etc. I really hate the ones where I'm chasing after my birth mother and just can't catch up to her; too much like it was in real life.

Not a fan of dreams, me.

Often! Even my ex-husbands have invaded my dreams. My grandmother is in a dream I have quite often. It takes place in her house and I am taking care of her but nobody else knows she is there. I have her hidden in a bed in her pantry.

I dream about living people too and some people I do not even know. My pets too, especially my dog are in frequent dreams of mine. I believe I dream every night.

I have been going through something similar in the past year or so. My mom died in 99 and in the past year she has popped up in my dreams frequently. I also had a good friend die at the age of 46 of twenty years ago show up in a few dreams in the past few months. I'm thinking that even though on one level I may not think of them on a daily basis these days my subconscious still remembers them fondly and that is why the are popping up.

Let me give you a hug! 🤗

Omg, now that I think about it, I have had several dreams of deceased relatives, the dreams didn't stand out in any way, just mundane. My daughter was in a dream recently, nothing dramatic, just doing something with her friends(typical Angie!). My mom was in a dream not too long ago, I think I was at her house(as an adult), again- just doing nondescript things. As for EXs, I have never dreamed about my first EX in the 46 years since we divorced. My last EX and the kid's mom-EX make brief appearances in my dreams from time to time.

I've had dreams of my father who passed years ago & it was as if he was very much still with us. I've had other family members appear in dreams, but I don't recall them as clearly. Sometimes they were just "normal" situations other times they were strange .

As a kid, I was told if I ever saw a family member who appeared to me (I took it as awake), it was because they had something to tell me. I think this would be the same as in a dream.

I frequently dream about people that used to be business associates. They were my "friends group" when I was working.

I rarely dream about dead relatives or friends, but I did recently dream about my mother who passed 2 years ago. I was at a business function and was leading her around on her walker as I tried to rush through the crowd. She started out younger in the dream, then became frail as she had been most recently. I guess I was reliving my life with her.

Coming from a large family, my relatives that I've not lived near for decades and just visit occasionally, are often still in my dreams. (Dream 100% of sleep time.) And my parents are often like when I was growing up, not old. Now the odd thing is my parents and 2 oldest siblings have passed away but when in my dreams, I don't seem to usually be aware they've passed away. The part of the brain recognizing faces is on the brain's right side of the frontal cerebrum while the part that names objects is on the left.

Apparently the way those areas cross connect to brain areas with an awareness of being alive or dead is attenuated while asleep. So the brain prediction machine hallucinates they are still alive blocked from an awareness neural path that they died possibly at amygadala sections..

Constantly, very unpleasant or nightmares. Nasty. It is possible that they represent someone else in your life
or whatever. If you dream about someone you hardly knew, he might just be a symbol or mask, a representation.

I often don't remember my dreams but more recently I dreamed about my sister, and mom. I remembered it right after I woke up but not any more. It seems that's how it goes with me and dreams.
