How open are you to changing your perspective or view?

Hell, I don't know...pick a subject and we can discuss it 'til the bars close
Ok here's one.
Do you think Aussies deserve an automatic green card if they want to immigrate to America? We are nice people after all. :)

'Deserve' to immigrate to America?
I assume North America
I also assume you mean the US
Nobody deserves that sentence

OK, no longer facetious;

I believe anyone should be able to live anywhere
I believe mean people should not get to live most places
I also believe not all Aussies are nice
However, I have yet to meet one that wasn't

I did run into some Afrikaans that were less than representative of their country
It was in the lobby of Golden Lake Hotel in mainland China
At first I was happy to talk to someone that spoke English

...not long after, I wasn't

When I was younger it was very hard for me to change my views. Then as I aged I was more receptive to other peoples opinions. Now in the last couple of years I've reverted back and I'm not changing my views on certain subjects for all the tea in China but I will be polite and listen to what you have to say but I definitely won't argue, debate or judge.

i have to reassess some of my views. Because i am often likely to feel a knee jerk reaction to a polar opposte view.
Or just stay clear of controversial topics. On my deathbed im not going to care too much who the Prime Minister of Australia and their party is. It wont matter.

I’m pretty much set in my ways. Happy to listen to folks as long as it’s stated in a respectful way and not with an aggressive tone and that they listen to me with respect. If anyone has an aggressive tone with me and I’ll turn you off pretty quick. (Think fingers in ears and singing Lala Lala Lala!)

If someone gives me good reason by pointing out good solid facts and solid points on a position then I am all open for changing my stance on something. I also agree with the above poster that is someone comes to me with an aggressive tone and is pushy then that is a quick turn off.

Back when I would patrol the highways and do a routine traffic stop for speeding, running a light, etc., I would always approach the driver with an open mind, if he/she would try to explain why it was they decided to violate the law. For example; If I stopped a person for going through a red light, I wouldn’t ask them why. However, if they offered an excuse “before” I wrote the citation, then I would allow them the opportunity to explain their actions and based on their story, then I would decide whether to cite the driver or not.

If they waited until after I wrote the citation to explain their actions, it would be too late. My Sgt. never liked it when we would tear up a citation. The citations are numbered, so he would always question why a number would be missing, if we would delete or tear up a citation.
