How tall are you?

Wow moviequeen. You ARE tall.
You must have intimidated all the boys when you were growing up.
What is it like buying shoes?
What size shoe do you take if you don’t mind me asking?
Keesha, its sometimes difficult to find my shoe size,11.I wear New balance walking shoes, only find them at Kohl's Dept store. My winter boots sometimes I'll buy men's 9 1/2 wide
I've heard the older we get we start to shrink so,last yr at my dr's appt,I asked his nurse practioner to measure me. I was curious and happily surprised to learn I hadn't .She told me its probably because of all the walking I do. Sue

LOL...sorry Ken, didn't realise you were online.... :D

No problem....Yo know we are always on together!! LOL

Thank you both for this information. How interesting.

WOW! That’s incredible. The guy was 3 1/2 feet at one year of age and at 20 was 488 pounds yet looks skinny. At 9 he could carry his father up the stairs. Can you imagine?

How sad that he only lived to 22 and even then he hadn’t stopped growing.
I’m conflicted . I feel bad for him but at the same time he must have had an extraordinary life being so tall and different.

He died from an infection caused by faulty braces which killed him due to a fragile immune system and died in this sleep.
At least he died in his sleep. The casket was almost 11 feet, weighed over 1,000 pounds and was carried by 12 pallbearers and 8 assistants.

That’s amazing. Did you see his shoe size ?

Size 11. That’s large. New Balance shoes. Ahh yes. Now I remember you saying you wore those for walking. I figured you must have a good pair of shoes since you walk so much.

How is tall were you in school? Were you taller than all the boys and did it ever bother you?
Aren’t women’s clothes difficult to get at that height?

You are tall. I wouldn’t have guessed from your pictures. Your man is tall also.

That's interesting that you wouldn't have guessed that I'm tall from my pictures. Over time I've learned that it's typically one of the first things people notice about me...I am pretty much always the tallest woman in the room.

Hmmm...wonder if it's not that noticeable because what you've seen of me in pictures here is me alone, or Ron and me together...and because we're both tall you just don't see much of any height comparison.

Lookit......

A pic of me with Ron's daughters Krystal's "Party Like A Carpenter" birthday party last year.

Here's one of me with my ex-nephews and niece and great-nephew (ex-brother in law's kids...no longer in touch with the in-laws, but the kids and I stay in close touch..they grew up with my kids and refuse to disavow the connection even though my ex and his family did) Nathan and Chris are over 6 feet, but Jessice is just a little over 5 feet tall.

One more comparison...I don't mean to hijack the thread. A recent gathering of friends. Well, primarily Paige's friends. It was bingo night at Tailgate Brewery, and Paige and I had a "date" night lol!

The point of the photos are visual examples of my statement that I am typically the tallest woman in the room.

Ok . That IS very noticeable with ‘these’ pictures. Like you already mentioned , most of the pictures I had seen were of you and Ron or other taller people so I had no average height person to compare it to by viewing those photos.
Yes you certainly are tall and stand out but your light shines brightly even without pictures.

You express yourself well but thanks for these new pictures. You can tell you are deeply loved and appreciated.

Years back when we were at Niagara Falls, my kids talked me into going through one of those wax museums that you see in tourist areas. It may have been a Madam Tussaud’s.

I remember seeing a wax figure of Wadlow. My kids wanted me to stand next to the figure for a picture. Even though I am 6’4”, I still looked small. I also remember seeing him on TV once. I had Gorilla Monsoon on one of my flights several years ago, back in the early 80’s. When Gorilla died, he was 6’4” or 5” and weighed over 400 pounds. He had a huge upper body.

I also saw Shaquille O’Neal play once. He goes 7’1 or 2” and weighs over 300. Shoe size is an amazing 23. I always wanted to meet him, but never had the chance.

Ron’s daughters have gorgeous hair, especially the one on the right with the long wavy brown hair.
That looks well cared for.

Yeah, it's amazing!!! And right after this she cut it all off!!

She's a changeling. She's had a shaved head, she's had dreads, she's had purple/green/pink hair, she changes whenever the mood strikes. It's fascinating to see! She's very different than her sister, but they're extremely close.

Moviequeen, Zappos is great for all sizes and brands of shoes and sneakers, my wife and I have been buying shoes from them for years. I wear a size 13 4E and they always have something in my size. I usually buy the Asics brand because I like their fit, but they have a wide selection in New Balance as well. They also have free next day shipping and free returns. Check out the link below, I started a search For NB women's size 11 sneakers for you. It says they have 274 pairs to choose from. Their prices are great as well.

I used to be 5 feet 11 & seven eigth inches when I
was in the forces, but I have lost nearly 3 inches
since the years crept up on me.

When I was young I was often told that I was the
"height of nonsense", a quaint Scottish thing when
you speak rubbish or say silly things.

Mike.

:eek1: She’s like a chameleon. Changes like the wind. That’s an admirable trait. She sounds like she’s really comfortable in her own skin and uninhibited by what others think. That’s great. When I was younger I was more like that also.

How thoughtful.

I used to be 5'6 1/2" but I've shrunk to about 5'5''. When younger I was always the tallest Italian woman and wished I were shorter, but now I'm very happy with my height.

Well, 6'0" when I was younger, but now at 66, 5'11". I heard it's common to lose an inch or two due to spinal compression. I'm fine with that - things just aren't made for people over 6ft. I have a Queen-size bed & my heels go all the way to the end. Sometimes I've wondered how people who are over 6' sleep. I also have the driver's seat in my Nissan Altima all the way back.

I've been posting in this thread and never answered the original question. I'm 5'10".............................in socks.

Yes, Zappos is great for hard to find sizes. I've got wide feet and it was hard to find a shoe for a female in wide widths around here. I found Zappos years ago and have been using them since then and haven't regretted it one time!
