How to salvage hard salami

So I got this chub of very hard salami and over time in the refrigerator it became inedible. I'd break my teeth eating it.
Any way to salvage this and eat it? Should I throw it out? Costs $11. only.

BTW--the salami that is called hard in stores is fatty. Hard salami is supposed to have less/no fat and taste harder. Now soft salami passes for "hard" because it is cheaper to make.

If you believe that it is still good to eat slice off a few pieces wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave them for a few seconds at a time. The steam from the paper towel and the melting fat from the salami should soften it enough to eat.

If you can cut it into cubes it should make great seasoning for a variety of sauces. Or adapt a recipe for green beans & bacon to green beans & pieces of hard salami. Lots of ways to use it other than for a sandwich.
