I'm happy to say I have talked to two of my siblings today from out of state.

My sister called me for the first time in about 5 years! It was so great to hear her voice again. I had missed her. We've had our ups and downs and today was so nice.

I also talked to my brother from L.A. He is doing well and keeping safe as can be too!

I am so glad to have talked to them..Nothing like talking to family you haven't heard from in ages!

So, how was your Fourth of July?

Very nice...Our son, daughter in law and their daughter were with us outside today....Son and daughter in law went in the pool....
Then we went to their home, (It's only 3 blocks away)...daughter in law made Delicious food....
They well be back tomorrow to swim....Gonna be Hot....
Oh, of course their dog and their son's dog were with us in our yard....We love those dogs.....♥

it has been a very, very noisy affair. i have anxiety and i am desperately attempting to keep things under control. only five more hours to go. 😒

Anything you want to talk about?
thank you. i go through this every year. a few years ago i began having anxiety issues. i was going through a great deal of stress. i am now on two medications. i have breathing exercises to do. plus, i listen to gentle music to help aid in my relaxation. i do not fare well during this ridiculous holiday. they allow it too many days at a time. if it were just one day, i would be alright. it is just another example of our world in excess.

A rather quiet day here....had some heavy thunderstorms move through earlier...almost 2" of rain. Had to stay indoors most of the day, so I just re-caulked the shower door in the main bathroom. There's very little fireworks being used here, and the normal display in town was cancelled, so I watched a few minutes of the Macy's show on TV...close enough. With all the traffic during these Summer holidays, we stay home.

I think I understand as I, too, have big anxiety issues. I think the best we can do is to know we are going to make it through okay as we usually do. We always tend to think things are going to be just awful but see they end up being not as bad as we think. I agree there is a lot of excess that is difficult. I believe all the things you do are very good and tuning ones mind to know this is not personal but people will be people, alas. I take meds and supplements for my mood and anxiety, too, and think those are good things to ground us. All the best to you! 💐 ;)

ruthanne, i like the relax gummies from olly.

i must make a correction. it is called goodbye stress. my apologies.

My cousin and his wife visited. It was the first company we had since this mess began. We stayed our distance and enjoyed the Easter ham I had stashed in the freezer. Not exactly 4th of July food but I don't think I would have wanted to grill hamburgers,it was so hot.
I did have to put the oven on for the ham but I did it early in the morning and reheated the slices just a bit in the microwave at mealtime. I served it with all cold side dishes and we ate in the dining room with the AC on.

It was a very relaxing day.

ruth, may i ask did you even get to have easter dinner with that virus going around?

We had a very relaxed day; naps throughout the day. Caught up on lost sleep. Hubby wanted chili with beans so I got up early to put the beans to slow cook. Enjoyed the chili with corn bread. Then cut up a watermelon that has been sitting in the fridge for about 5 days. Cubed and put in containers (boy, I sound like a hoarder now). Watched lunar eclipse ~ beautiful. Text'd with my two sisters and a niece. Niece sent me photos of her two daughters. I had been missing those pics!

That's good to know, thanks! I'd like to say "goodbye to stress" that's for sure! As I have PTSD.

how does a person nap with loud fireworks being shot off?

Omg, from 8:30p till 10:45p the loudest fireworks in our neighborhood were set off, Non-Stop!!! Sounded like we were in a war zone and felt like they were coming thru our windows of the house....our doggie was shaking and panting the whole time while I tried to console him....called the town police twice, gave them actual locations and nothing was done....as I type this, I can still hear em' like every 15 minutes or so and its 11:32p! These people probably had connections to the law to get away with this.....had to be around $1,000 or more worth of illegal stuff from each house! The cop I talked to said we're driving around everywhere trying to stop all this.....I never saw any cars drive by my house the whole time....I'm still trying to calm down from all this awful noise :( .... we have lots of seniors in this area also....bet they called to no avail.....

Used to luv the Fourth years ago but I truly dread July approaching each year, and then these fireworks continue about three or four times a week nightly till September!!!! It gets worse each year....I better get the earplugs out for sure!
