We drive very little and no trip is just for one thing.

I don’t drive much anymore and am now going to start taking the bus downtown. The price of the ride is cheaper than the cost of parking.

With the shortage of items on shelves, it was ok to go other stores to see if they had it. I’ll reassess if it’s truly needed it or if I do it’ll be picked up when doing some other errand.

Now that winter is ending, I’m wearing my backpack for daily walks. The neighbourhood store is ok for some things, but it’s only a mile or so to a grocery store so my walks will be there. For heavier items I’m pulling my trolley.

Two years of Covid was good preparation.

My neighborhood is very walkable. I only drive about 1,000 miles per year and can easily trim that by bundling trips and doing a little more online shopping.

Our gas here in Canada is about 7 bucks gallon, 2.89 a liter today. We will keep driving as we always do. One tank of gas usually lasts a couple of weeks.

We shouldn't forget to check our tire pressure.

Pump gas as slowly as you can. This gets you more in gas and less in fumes.

I suppose paying higher prices for things is what I have to do since I get a lot of stuff delivered. Not having a car does not mean the cost of gas won't affect me. It will. Tomorrow I have to go 35 miles away to an appointment and my BF has to drive an extra 25 miles to pick me up.

I will ride the motorcycle (47mpg) for groceries and most everything else.

Good tip about checking tire pressure. Check and change the air filter if it's dirty too.

I don't think I'll change my driving habits very much, although I did put cruise control on today even in a 35 MPH zone. That helps save fuel and also encourages me to drive slower. As far as frequency, the gym, the grocery stores, the pet stores and the lake where I walk are within in a 5-mile radius so I still plan on going out every day. I fill up when I reach half a tank and the last time it was $25.

I think our life is going to be a lot less La Dolce Vita and a lot more La Dolce Velveeta these days. It takes a half tank to make the round-trip to my granddaughter's house and I do it about every week. I'm not giving that up.

We live in a rural area, and driving is a Must. However, we can easily alter our shopping trips, etc., to minimize our driving. After all the disruptions to "normal" over the past couple of years, due to Covid, limiting our running around, due to gas prices, will not be much of a change.
