How would you feel?

Say you belonged to a civic or religious organization that had been planning a "bring and share" meal for months. You cleared your calendar to have the planned day free and bought expensive and perishable ingredients to make a large serving dish to bring. Then, less than 24 hours before the event, you are notified it is being cancelled.

I would feel disappointed by the loss of a good time, but you know what they say about "the best laid plans of mice and men..,...."
I'd get over it.
Hope you make your tray and share it with someone. Have fun!

It would upset me, but hey, I would make up the plate and either share it with a friend, or watch some favourite movies and snack away. Perhaps there was a good reason the event was cancelled.

What RadishRose said, and then I'd get out several smaller containers, divide my big course between them, freeze 'em and be glad that for at least a couple of meals, I already had one part of it done ahead of time.

I'd enjoy the special food and share with family and friends and like, Debbie said, freeze the rest. These things happen.

I meant a reason more on a personal level, Deb. When things do not go as I planned I always feel...there is a reason it did not. It was not meant to happen for me.

Upstate New York?? Will take me about 3 days to drive there. Will it keep that long??? :>)

I would say it happened for a reason and look around and try to find someone else to share the food with. It could be really fun. Sometimes when things go wrong, something really wonderful comes out of it. Could you have invited your organ playing Aunt over for an impromptu meal? Maybe got on her good side again?

I'd just figure that that's the way it goes. Just one of those things that happens -- stuff gets cancelled and rescheduled all the time for a myriad of reasons. I'd figure out something else to do with the food -- fix and share with a friend, fix and freeze, whatever -- and go on about my ratkilling.
