HP sparks fury after disabling printers if customers use ink from cheaper suppliers

I've never done either of those things, so I didn't know. My $39 printer doesn't copy or scan, so I've had no reason to know.

That's interesting, what make and model is it?

I have no printer ink right now but my printer is HP. Just more greed and the cartridges do not last like they used to.

I should get that flash drive thingy and then take it into the printing place. I have some patterns I want to print out. Might be better in the long run

It's a Canon Pixma iP 2700. As I have said, I don't have a lot of use for a printer, but when you do need one, you need one, so I just bought the cheapest one I could find. It was a long time ago. I may have been drawn by the Canon label. Is it unusual to buy a printer today that doesn't fax or scan? Don't tell me this one does that. I'd feel silly. Although, I still have never had any need to fax or scan.

Microsoft does the same. Products from manufacturers, who don't have financial ties to Microsoft, are "not verified for Microsoft", and programmed to be difficult or impossible to use.
