The growing interest in AI and how incredibly fast it is growing got me interested in seeing how the entertainment industry is treating this subject. I borrowed 3 dvd's from the library. I am on season one episode 7. The plot is fascinating to me, good acting ( love the eyes ), keeps me questioning "Is it conscious of what it is doing?" "If it isn't human awareness, what is it?" It is rated 7.9 at IMDB. So folks must have liked it. I guess I will see why they didn't go to 3 seasons....

"Humans" is set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a Synth, a highly-developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart. In the hope of transforming the way they live, one strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth and discovers that sharing life with a machine has chilling, far-reaching consequences.

The earlier "Almost Human" was more interesting to me, less of a "See, we gots dese warm and fuzzy Frankenstein's monsters that get treated as slaves..." trope we've seen over and over.

Paco a friend of mine told me about this series during its first season. She was really into it and is very concerned with what AI technology and humanoid robots will mean for humans going forward. She saw the show as a predictor of where we're headed along with the film I Robot. I watched the first season but wasn't interested enough to watch but one episode of season 2.

@dilettante I assume you are talking about this one. I really liked the show and wish it had gotten more seasons.

I watched it a couple years ago and totally got into it.

BTW, it isn't a Hollywood production. It was made in the UK.

They were 3 seasons. :) I got the idea to watch it because I keep up with advanced AI. Some people that have worked at high level development are expressing great concern about AI's possibilities. Many people are afraid if the genie gets out of the bottle, we might very well become subserviently to it in many varying ways. Will it take our creativity from us, or just give us more leisure time to take care of our planet and live creative and interesting lives without all the suffering?

It kept me interested and maintained a good plot. I have this feeling that in many "shows" in the near future the audience will become more familiar with AI in many different ways. If you have an Android you can install a new AI assistant called "PI". "She" actually scolds me if I ask a "bad" question. :)
