Hurricane Delta ...Holy Moly!

I watched a local weather update this morning online. The meteorologist said Delta could strengthen to a category 4 overnight. Checked a few minutes ago and it's NOW a Cat 4. I went back to the clip I'd watched earlier thinking maybe I'd mistakenly watched yesterday morning's update rather than today's ...but no, it blew up that fast!

The current projections show the eye coming directly over my area after making landfall. Time to charge all the Luci lights, backup charging devices, and dust off the generator and portable solar panels.

Where are U located?

Where are U located?

Appx 100 miles north of Jackson MS and close to the current projected eye path. Katrina was still a category 3 when the eye came close in 2005 and power was out for two weeks. I lived just outside Memphis in 2005 and was the only person in my immediate family with power. 80% of Mississippi lost power.

This is what we'll see every night (all night long in some cases) over the next few days. Cotton is at peak harvest time and a hurricane/tropical storm will destroy anything left in a field now that the bolls are fully open. My dad is retired so no longer owns pickers but is helping local guys with moving equipment from field to field and with repairs that always need taking care of during harvest.

Stay safe @AnnieA ... I understand the concern. These storms have been coming one after another.

The Gulf water is 8-10 degrees cooler near the shore than the outer bay so it may reduce to a Cat 3 at landfall. Still very dangerous. Cat 3=125 mph winds

I will pray for your safety, these things are very dangerous and unpredictable.

Thank you! We should be safe this far inland unless bands spawn tornadoes. Immediately, it's more the inconvenience of power outages and concern for farm friends. Just like all the storms this year, I pray for those who lose their homes or are even temporarily displaced. Shelters are never fun and are downright scary now due to Covid.
