Hurricane Hillary may help CA's drought.

We got many times the average rainfall state wide, most of the reservoirs are full, and the Sierra's snow pack is still way above average. We're going to get some rain from the coming storm, could possibly get flashfloods here in the High Desert. Or, we might just see the clouds zoom past us and head for Las Vegas.

Thinking of everyone in the SW this morning ......

Western Mojave high desert areas like Lancaster and the State California Poppy reserve show now at 8pm PDT nearly 4 inches of precipitation today with Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park and Borrego Spring nearly 2 inches. Much rare water will be absorbed by perennial bush roots of species like chuparosa, ocotillo, joshua trees, mesquite, and desert willows where they tend to grow along washes and ravines. Not the time of year for desert perennials that bloom in late winter.

Some of the parched desert plants are getting a good soaking that they desperately need. Even Joshua Trees and cactus need some water. I expect some of the animal life is having an easier time finding water.

Well, CA isn't in major drought this year, but the SoCA reservoirs might get a little bit of help from the recent rains. CA depends more on snowpacks than on rainfall, however.
