Since I'm known online as a "senior", I get 'senior' ads.
One ad gets me. It's for "senior living in Weatherly, Pa." Nothing wrong with the little town, it's a nice little town. But here is the pic of what supposedly for seniors is available in Weatherly.

We're seeing a lot of places like the old village commercial district and high-traffic corner lots off the highway razed or stripped, filled, and leveled. Then these bizarre multistory luxury retirement egg cartons erected.
Local seniors can't afford them, but they're intended for cash-rich immigrants from the coasts.
Federal subsidies used to require some fraction of the units to accept low-income residents, but now they're pulling this "carbon trading doctrine" out of their hats. The new companies are buying up older, crumbling low-income senior housing far away from the new fat-cat palaces. This satisfies their responsibility and thus they can produce the new segregated housing.
