Hypothetically, you are tasked to start a new religion.

Mr. Ed

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t
Location
Central NY
You are tasked to start a new religion, what features of the new religion would you introduce? Will the new religion be based on punishment and reward? How will the new region pay for utilities, gas/electric. Will the new religion be supported by its members and word of mouth? Who will be accountable for the church and the designated offices?

Will same-sex unions be welcomed without judgement? Will cultural differences be encourage or discouraged? Will mysticism play a role in recruitment and the everlasting reward of participation?

What or who will you worship? Will the history of the new religion answer the question of life and the afterlife? Will the new religion rules and regulations have strict guidelines for worship and social interactions. Will there be a designated spokesperson, clergy, preacher to share inspiration and knowledge to listeners?

What about rituals, such as communion and baptism? How far would you go to establish the new religion if you believed heart ands soul that you are chosen by unknown force that a new religion was necessary for the good of mankind?

I couldn't even think about doing that. But, of course, I know there are many out there, but for me, there is only one and I am totally satisfied with the one I have.

The features would have to include

Tax free living expenses to include housing, food, travel, transportation, money enough to buy whatever I want.
TV time paid by contributions
Whatever I promote be unquestioned
Whatever I write be considered fact

And whatever else I might decide is appropriate once those with blind faith accept what I promote.

I don't have the time, but I'm guessing the next viable religion will come out of the New Age culture. With people turning away from churches, but still claiming to be spiritual, there's a niche there to be filled. So far there have been weak attempts to fill it, but none have gained much traction, except maybe for the Wiccan. New Age religions tend to be more open and inviting.

Here is a description of New Age in a critique by a Christian who claims that Christianity and New Age are incompatible, but the things he points out as wrong, sound quite appealing, even to me, who doesn't have a spiritual bone in my body.

But to get back to Wicca: When I first learned about Wicca, which is the name of the religion, it sounded like just some more hokum, but even with such a cynical perspective, I had to admit, I felt a draw toward it. Eventually, I met a Wiccan Lady quite by accident. She was gracious and smart, and remarkably so, enough so that one might think she was into something very special and lovely. It still sounded like hokum, but I still felt that draw. But then my love of nature plays a big part in Wicca too, or so I've been led to believe.

No I'm NOT teetering on some religious conversion.

Religion typically have a godhead or leader for worshipping and guidance. There must be a mission statement to describe reason and purpose of religion. Will the new religion be based on faith and mysticism or something in the area of Paganism, Mother Earth, Astrology or numerology?

Deism is interesting.

My "religion" would feature Black gospel music like they have in the deep south and perhaps some gospel blues to go with it. People would be dancing in the aisles and waving their hands in the air, but we wouldn't worship any deities. Instead, we would worship the music of Leonard Cohen and the Staple Singers. It would be a celebration of music and philosophy. Church leaders would preach the teachings of Søren Kierkegaard and other 19th century philosophers.
