I am almost to the point of quitting FB and anything else like that because of Twitter.

I quit FB in Dec 2016, don't miss it, never looked back. It was easier after I had cut the cord in 2012, recently NetFlix in 2020. Now if I can control my impulse buying I might be able to quit Prime. Somewhere in there SF is marked for eventual demise. Too thin skinned.

Nope. I've never had a Fakebook account and never will, and I don't Twit or graminstant either. :)

It's easy enough to communicate with someone by email.
 
Kinda stuck having a Facebook account as so many businesses, etc. use it. No activities coming from me on my page, it only advertises what my NH friend is up to.

I agree, same here. Never joined fb, twitter or any of those other social media sites. I don't intend to either, I've heard and read enough things second hand which just shows a lot of negativity, disinformation and infighting, life is too short for that daily feed of nonsense. I do communicate with a couple of family and friends via email, been just fine for me.
 
I still have Facebook simply because of family. So many reconnections with cousins etc.
I have 64 friends. I don't accept anymore friend requests and have quietly unfriended some.
I'm trying to keep it solely for family and special friends.
I follow businesses I patronize, and local police, chamber of commerce, farmers markets and things like that.

I absolutely agree. I've got a FB account.. never used it aside to have a quick look at what people are doing, or to see what's for sale in Marketplace but never got into any kind of conversations or involvements with groups. I've heard read too much about the problems it causes..

if my friends and family want to contact me they can call or text
 
I quit Facebook years ago, they always tried to control my content! Don't miss them a bit. I have never used Twitter....never will.

I can't text, fingers too fat and slow, only need my phone for 6 digit codes everyone seems to use for security. I guess as long as I pay for data my wife can communicate with our kids.

Family & real life friends is the only reason I have FB. The rest of the stuff- the content that Facebook pushes out I either use or block, it's really that simple.

I could never get into FB. I was getting birthday pics from the wife of a cousin's aunt's brother-in law's exwife. Or somebody saw a bird sitting in a tree for 2 minutes!!! So, I don't know what's going on with FB. What problems are you having?

There’s a lot of negativity, disinformation, infighting and nonsense on here (SF) too.
That’s what makes it interesting, to me and possibly others. But it’s not always bad
and it’s not bad in all ways either, again, just my opinion. I’m like a lot of people, I
think. If it’s something I like, then it’s good. If I don’t like it, then it’s bad. Your view
may be different than mine but the online world isn’t always one of civility.

The world needs more funny pictures and word games and what better way to put
them before the masses than social media sites!
 
I've never had any social media accounts, or Google, Amazon either. SF is as close as it comes. I read the terms of service, if I can't live with it I don't use it. Most of my family and friends use Discord and if they don't were stuck with text messaging. Email occasionally.

Nothing close in comparison to fb and twitter, etc. On this forum if white supremacists were spewing hate and inciting violence, they would be banned very quickly.

This forum is not a format for anti-American types who plan to overthrow the government or throw out fair elections where the people have spoken with their votes. People who hate LGBTQ people and are plotting for their demise, etc. will not get a microphone here.

No Russian trolls or bots are on this forum to spread propaganda and disinformation about the US, Ukraine, etc.

Like I said, I never joined those sites, but have heard and read enough to know I'd want no part of them. Any online discussion site is composed of people, and there will always be some personality or opinion conflicts, but the hate and vitriol that is spread on fb and twitter isn't even close to what goes on in a basic discussion board.
 
FB is ok if you use it carefully. I rarely post other than to comment on something specific of a friend that I’m not likely to ever see again. I do belong to some groups for entertainment or medical discussions. There’re lots of funny posts. Good for a laugh.

The most informative is the local site. That one I never comment on.
