I am almost to the point of quitting FB and anything else like that because of Twitter.

I could never get into FB. I was getting birthday pics from the wife of a cousin's aunt's brother-in law's exwife. Or somebody saw a bird sitting in a tree for 2 minutes!!! So, I don't know what's going on with FB. What problems are you having?
Nothing. They, and whoever "they" is, just post whatever. Some make no sense to us, but it does to them and they just want to share it.

I was a Twitter quitter long before it was fashionable. I gave it a week.

I joined FB after my wife died. She used to use it because she had a large family she wanted to be in touch with.

I joined for the same reason.

Now, not only family but also grade school and high school classmates are in touch. I'm even friends with the girl I grew up next door to.

In order to keep people interacting with me, every day I post funny comics and favorite YouTube videos that elicit responses and we get laughing and responding to music together.

People can act like children on FB. I have an account. Haven't posted anything in probably 2 years. I post the cats. I have people send me requests from work after I added a person or two. That's fine. But I've also had people tell me things such as someone at work getting fired and then they scream all over their facebook page about it. That's really not cool and really stupid if a potential employer were to see it.

I made a Twitter username to follow a couple of the, now defunct, KGO news radio hosts. I haven't been over there in awhile.

I agree with SeaBreeze. Thus site is well moderated. I havve aFB account, but never use it. I see no need for Twitter, Tictoc, etc.

I am a Facebook stalker! I never post, never comment, don't respond to friend request and never send out request. There are a couple of groups I belong to and I just scroll thru their content.

My cats all have Facebook accounts. They post pictures of each other on there and send and receive friend requests to and from Algeria. They must do this at night when I'm sleeping because they sleep all day. They are kind enough to shut off the computer when they are finished. Lots of paw prints on the screen in the morning so they must be having lots of fun.

I am trying to sell a Charles Dickens anthology of Christmas novellas and short stories on Marketplace. I state in the ad not to ask for my phone number and they would have to come to my house. I received 3 inquiries asking for my phone number. When I asked if they had read the ad since I said not to ask for my number, I was accused of being a scammer.

I considered joining Facebook some years ago, but I heard bad things. I sometimes wish I had it, for certain discussion groups or local information. So many things that used to be online are, "Oh we do that on Facebook now."

I'm not on any other social media; they never made sense to me.

Except LinkedIn for business. There, I was put in the position of feeling I had to accept a former client's connection request (I wanted to remain on cordial terms) when I didn't really want to (I didn't know her work, and didn't like what she represented). What was I supposed to say? "Hi, I only connect with people with better credentials, and don't want anyone to think I'm associated with your organization."

I joined a FB site called "I grew up in (name of town)". Seems harmless enough, mostly reminiscences of good times. Once in a while I see someone I know there. About once a month I add a comment.

Twitter is a cesspool, filled with hatred from right and left alike.

I don't like LinkedIn. I've never had a use for it. I'm on there but never use it. Partly because I never got acquainted with how it works. I sent one "it was great working with you" msg. to a former coworker and only because I meant it.

just remove the part about not contacting you by phone, and replace it with Contact through FB messenger only

I have been on Facebook for years, but only occasionally post things and that is to friends
and visa versa. It's a good avenue for me to touch base with some, family, relatives, it's quick
and easy.

I just never found the "Hire Me Now" button on there.
Both my estranged husband .. and I constantly get offers of work.. and CVs galore from up and coming trainees, desperate to get a foot in the door .. or people who want a word put in for them in the Business we were .. and for him.. are still employed in ... there's actually barely a day goes by when there's no request from someone for a job or a plea to read their CV .. or even a request from a company who would like us to work for them...

I suppose if I thought about it I get recruiters messaging me and a "we found jobs" notification. Nothing ever interests me.

I have a love hate relationship with fakebook. I love my family and friends. I hate the people running fakebook and censoring content under the "community standards" reason. Two times recently I was banned due to pictures with rabbits in them. One I commented "head shot" meaning my friend had a close up photo of a wild bunny rabbit. fb said I was inciting violence against animals. Yet recently have allowed hunters to share photos of dead deer while holding their rifles.

I visit FB multiple times a day and post maybe twice a month. I have 137 friends. mostly family, coworkers, and high school classmates. I just checked in a saw a picture of my brother's brand new great grandchild. Most days, just blah, blah, blah.

I opened a twitter account when it was a new thing. Never posted. Sounds like I need to get back to it.

I'd like to expand my horizons, as I'm a recluse of sorts.
I've never got on any of the social sites but am thinking about Twitter
now that it's changed hands. I don't know. Guess I should.
I have a few more books inside me that want to get out and paintings
so I might not have time.

I do not use my real name on FB, I have 16 friends and family, they all know the name I use. I have no problems with it, and have the buy and sell, community events , garage sales, etc.

You think giving a false name stops FB from knowing who you are. I suggest you search for How Facebook Tracks Me.
Believe me, FB already knows your real name and tons more. Here is just one link about the matter.

https://www.allthingssecured.com/tutorials/tracking/how-facebook-tracks-you/

Facebook tracking isa big and varied subject that most FB users simply don't know about.
