I am already looking at new mask material.

The holidays are coming up, along with the schools opening. Yes, I sew my own masks and use coffee filters for the pocket. I have made several, and got new material today for the new mask. I want to make one that has one side one design and the other side another design but the same colors. I need a hobby. I get bored. I am on Pinterest and love to try new patterns. Anyone else make them?

I purchased mine on Amazon. I no longer have a sewing machine. It was purchased for me but, I rarely used it. I found it frustrating.

It won't be much fun under the mistletoe this year.

I also sew my own masks. I try for diversity. The ones I get the most comments on is the sport ones for the NFL football teams.

The one I have is the Green Bay Packers. Nice green and yellow colors.

You need to wear a mask if you enter a public place now and on the bus as well in my city.

We have a very good record so far containing the virus.

You are correct. It is frustrating at first. You have to be persistent and maybe have someone teach you. It's tricky until you get the hang of it.
I bought mine at a yard sale when I moved into an apartment.
I wanted nice curtains and drapes on my windows which I had at my home.
It's pretty easy now because you can buy the curtains with the grommets already installed and all you have to do is hang them and mark them and hem them.
I also love being able to buy a pair of slacks and hem them myself so I can wear them the same day.
As a young boy I used to sit and watch my mother sewing. She had a treadle machine.

I’ve got 3 sewing machines and used to sew a lot. It was my my hobby and I was sewing everyday for years. Then one day I stopped and never started again. Right now I have everything I need to make the cutest face masks 🎭 Maybe I’ll consider it

A few years before retiring I bought a new serger intending to use it when I had more time. The fabric store where I bought it provided some classroom instruction but I found it to be somewhat frustrating in comparison to my previous old but trustworthy machine which I had given away.

I put the machine aside to do other things and the next thing I know it is still tucked away in one of my closets gathering dust after all these years. I plan to get it cleaned/checked out and will then try and sell it, perhaps on consignment.

I do love handmade items so have purchased a few handmade masks online through Etsy and in person at some of the retail shops (bookstores, clothing stores) in my area. I think it is a great idea to have these masks customized as it may encourage people and kids, of all ages, to wear them when necessary. Others have made them to help with fundraising efforts for their local hospital or to provide them to some who otherwise would not have easy access to having a mask.

I had a Singer sewing machine for over 50 years that I used often ... it finally gave up last year, and I miss it. But I wouldn't get another one, as my eyes play tricks on me now, and sewing would be difficult.

My face masks are copper infused and very breathable. . got them on the Internet.. They are a layered soft material and very comfortable.

I think it's great that people are wearing masks instead of fighting it, but.... if you wear cloth masks, for gawd sakes WASH it once in a while! I think more harm than good is going to come from people wearing dirty masks! I couldn't tell you how many people I see wearing cloth masks, with stains, food, grease and who knows what... ugghh.. If you are not going to wash them once in a while, wear a disposable mask!

I have been using the ones with 3 layers plus a filter. I also like the comfort of the adjustable ear loop. I do not care for the little bendies around the nose area. To me it is easier to just place that part under my glasses.

A man up the street from us neglected washing his mask and got Legionnaires Disease from it, or at least, that’s what the doctor at the hospital told him. When he came home, he made a point to tell everyone on our street about his experience. We already had been washing our masks everyday. Makes perfect sense to me.

I see many who don't wash them. I think it is sheer laziness.

I hadn't sewn in a long time, and this COVID gave me something to sew. I made my own pattern once, then found other patterns. Now the elastic was another story. I had some in my little sewing basket that I hadn't used for 25 years! It came in handy!!!

Wellll...every now and then I read too fast or see too fast or something. At first glance the header for this thread appeared to be "I am already looking at new man material."

Yanno. Sometimes I do feel like a new man. One who has his own income, his own transportation, his own place to live💵🚗🏡 and he has to be literate📖 It's a big ask.

I wish I had a sewing machine, too, would make things easier...I can't see the needle hole on needles and I use the huge ones 🥴 :ROFLMAO:

Oh yes, to answer your question no, I don't make them, can't. I bought my last ones on Amazon at a pretty good price for a change.

Haha. I can relate to that. Sometimes I don’t read the title correctly and sometimes I’ve posted my answer to the wrong thread . After posting I notice that my favourite bubble bath post doesn’t belong in the growing hostas thread. 😂

I saw some plain white and some black ones in Wal Mart you could buy for about $3.84 or something like that. You could decorate those any way you would like.

The only ones that work for me are the blue disposable ones that the doctors wear. I cannot keep them on but so long. My anxiety wants to take over.
I understand. Some can't stand wearing them for very long. I take mine off as soon as I am out of the store and in my car.
