I Am Bored

I don't know where you live exactly, but I could use a helper to help put a new roof on a huge shed a fellow owns and is very badly needed replaced, except he has very little money, so I volunteered to help him. There's an old barn that was just torn down on a farm about 10 miles from me that has some really good wood lying about. I am going over there and salvage the good stuff and use it to put on the new roof. It's just a shed, so it will be fine to use as an underlayment. He gave me money to buy the shingles, so I can probably do the job in 2 days. The shed is about 8 foot by 12 foot. I will repaint the trim once the carpentry is completed. The rest of the shed is in pretty good condition.

I like the idea of you volunteering at a shelter or hospital. The motorcycle part, not so much. 😂 I hope by the time you read this, you will have conquered your boredom. Your post reminds me that my mother was always going on bus rides with her club members, but my father was a homebody. If it was baseball season, he was good sitting right in front of that T.V. 👀

The wife is away again with her cronies on another adventure. This time, the ladies are heading to Maine to visit Acadia National Park and go whale watching on a boat. These 4 women don’t sit still. None of their husbands play golf and my 2 best buds are on vacation.

I asked her what was I supposed to do while she was gone. Her answer was ‘do whatever you want.’ Those are dangerous words. My son is working and my daughter is away. I am bored.

I am going to go up to the SPCA and see if they need help. It’s only about 2 miles away. The hospitals only want help in the mornings. If the SPCA doesn’t work out, I’m going to go get my son’s motorcycle and take a long ride out in the country.
I went riding for all but 3 hours. Beautiful day and very little traffic where I went. Stopped at a small fruit stand that was selling peaches, plums and pears. The woman running the stand started a conversation with me and we learned that her and I were distant cousins. Small world, right? She asked me if I wanted to taste something really good. I told her sure. She went into her house and brought out a small glass with a liquid in it. She told me it had just a little rum in it. I was hesitant at first, but I drank it anyway. I asked what was that. She told me it was a peach smoothie. It was really good, even though it had yogurt in it. I also ended up buying some peaches.

What a wonderful adventure! It looks like you enjoyed the three-hour drive and the conversation with the woman running the stand. Even more importantly, you found a common connection with the woman. Kudos to you for trying the peach smoothie!

Picking up that wood today kind of fell through. Someone else beat me to it. The wood looked like it was almost new and I thought I could use it to put down as underlayment, but now I will have to go buy a couple of sheets of plywood to do the job. However, lucky me, I just received a 20% off coupon from Lowes and I also get another 10% off as a military discount. I hope they allow me to use both coupons since I have decided to pay for the wood out of my own pocket. My wood that I need is also on sale this weekend.

Can I use waferboard instead of plywood for the underlayment before I put the shingles on. Anyone know? If not, I'll ask the guys at Lowes.

Get yourself a cheap airline ticket across the pond, let me know
which airport you are landing at. I shall meet you in my MG. You
will then see much of historic England in a 76 year old MG.
Bored? I don't think so!

I'll tell you what I tell a friend when she says she is bored, you can read a book, or watch TV, and if worse comes to worse do housework!!

I hope your wife has a good time, whale watching with friends or family is awesome. Why can't you give her your blessing to enjoy and have a good time? Why do you have to lay a guilt trip on her about what you're going to do, seems selfish to me. I'd never do that to my husband. Why is whatever you want dangerous words? Is being bored while a loved one is having a good time a death sentence? Sorry, I don't get it. Being married is partnership, not only about you.
