I am flying to Melbourne tomorrow morning - 14th April

I booked and paid for my flight six weeks ago at a cost of $350. (Economy)
Checked that flight just now, 4 seats left at $1374, one way. (Economy)
@Bretrick
How long will you be visiting Melbourne? If I'd had the choice when I lived in Australia, I would have loved living in Melbourne. It's a fascinating city, with old and new architecture, side-by-side.

I am so envious. Enjoy!

Getting ready to set off on my journey. Time now is 4.40am. Catching the 5.30 bus, then train to the airport.
I will be in Melbourne for 3 weeks before flying back home. If all goes well, I will be driving to Melbourne in late May.

Safe journey, are you scouting out new places to live ? hope you find something you like !
Thank you Holly.
I am at the airport now awaiting my flight.
I arrived at the airport via public transport. Arrived at 6.21am, had my boarding ticket at 6.38am.
Quicker than Heathrow, say what?
I have a place to live. Well, let's say I am going to see if the place is suitable for me.
I have a long-time friend who lives in Melbourne. He owns a double storey house and has offered me the whole top floor for $1000/month.
His wife has long term dementia and has lived in a facility for several years.
If we decide we can live under the same roof without too much consternation, then I will move to Melbourne late May.
I fly back to Perth on the 4th of May, give notice to my landlord then drive to Melbourne. David will fly to Perth and share the driving as he has never done the cross-country trip.
At today's prices, the drive across Australia will cost at least $1,600. Approximately 8 tanks of fuel.

Happy flying! I hope you have a safe and stress free flight.

One whole floor of a house. Do you have your own kitchenette or will you be sharing a kitchen?

I also have a good feeling about it. I really hope it works out for you.
Share the kitchen, cooking meals for each other. Everything is included in the $1000. Electricity, water, Wi-Fi.

Thank you Holly.

it certainly sound like an ideal situation as long as you and your friend have strictly seperate living areas... which it sounds like you will..... fingers crossed for you...... and yes ... definitely quicker than an London airport for checking in... new rules which have recently been applied have the media reporting today that people were passing out in the border check queues because they were being kept standing waiting for hours...

You're going on quite an adventure. I hope it all works out for you. I can't wait to hear the story when you get back.
