Think of the short, gloomy winter days when people tend not to go out, especially people who are retired, maybe have health issues. Winter can be a dark, isolating, lonely time. If you are asleep all day and only active during the night, you are existing in the same darkness.
Natural light is very important and without it, you are probably lacking in Vitamin D which is essential, not only for our bones but also to aid sleep, mood and productivity.
Sometimes, life can be overwhelming. I think it is natural to retreat but, there comes a time when, the only way to deal with life, is to take small steps. See if you can try and adjust your sleeping habits so you can get more light (you might benefit from a course of Vitamin D tablets). Of course, this alone won't solve everything but, it's a small step in hopefully making yourself stronger so you can start to tackle the issues you are facing.
