I can't get used to piercings.

I hate tattoes. For me, it's taking a perfectly beautiful body and messing it up. But since everybody, including his grandmother, now are all wearing tats, I'll have to get used to them. That said, ain't no way I can get used to piercings. I just want to run over and rip them out on purely health reasons. Some how having a stud sticking out of my lip and other parts on my body just doesn't do it for me.
I know this makes me sound like an old coot from the 20th Century, and it's the 21st.

While I don’t wear any jewelry whatsoever, I’m not opposed to other people’s choices. If they want 5 earrings in one ear, then that’s their business. My sister in law has a tiny diamond in her nose and has 4 tattoos. They are all tasteful and all suite her. I try and go by the ā€˜live and let live ā€˜ motto.

I’m glad my generation stuck to paisley shirts with long collars and oddly patterned bell bottom pants. And the whole hippy dippy look. When that nonsense went out of style it was simple enough to toss those clothes away with no permanent damage to our young bodies.

I've confessed this before - I'm very old fashioned, and this is especially true of the women I find attractive (or what I find attractive in others, if you prefer).

I want to think that a tattoo can be beautiful, but that the vast majority aren't because of bad choices. I have none. I don't want any. I'd prefer a woman without tattoos.

It goes to say, it's every individuals choice what they do to themselves.

Earings on a woman are generally nice. Hoops through the nose are not (piercing through the septum). I'm not sure why anyone would want to draw attention to their nose. Piercings through the eyebrow are also...... weird. Through the lips? Weird. That applies to one piercing, or multiple.

Piercings of the navel can look nice though. So I'm not anti-piercing.

When it comes to men - I have no piercings, and have never wanted any. As PeppermintPatty writes, I don't wear any jewelry. No rings, watches, chains. It's just never been my thing. Which is not to say I've never worn a ring, etc. I've tried it, it just bothered me. I once had a very expensive watch because........ it seemed like I should have one. I only lasted a few months with it. I hated wearing the damn thing.

There are some extreme cases in the world today.

I kind of wish I didn't read scroll down for this image.

I love earrings. When I finally broke down to get my ears pierced it was in a jewelry store which was run by weight lifters. Two most adorable guys told me I can pinch them if I have to. Well, they asked me to please take my claws out of their thighs when it was done and over two minutes later.

I have daith piercings in both ears (inside the shell of my ear and only visible if I turn my head); they are there for me, because I like them. I couldn't care less what anyone else feels about them. They're mine.

My middle son is a piercing artist; that's what he does for a living and one of the things he loves about his job is how some piercings change a person's perspective, their feelings about their body and helps them feel better in their skin. That's wonderful.

I don't have any tattoos, but my husband does and two of three of my children do. It's what they want, part of their expression of themselves.

Why waist your energy having opinions about people who honestly don't give a fig about your opinions.

I do find a comment like this confusing. We make judgements of people all the time, their choices, how they speak, the things that do. It's part of human nature. We may not agree on things, have different opinions, but why deny anyone a choice? Do I have to get a tattoo in order to know I don't want one? I think not.

Well, that's kind of my point: want one, don't want one, I'm not going to judge you either way.

What does bother me and this has old man written all over it is the lack of clothing I see here by young women but yes none of my business .

How can you tell you are in Miami ?

When half the mothers at a Grammar school parents night are wearing less clothes then the women who work at Hooters .

But people judge all the time, be it political beliefs, religious beliefs, how we look, how we act, our own preferences. Judging, imo, isn't a problem. We do it instinctively. As individuals, we don't all think alike, which is what accounts for our differences.
Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree there because I think being judgmental of others is a problem and, while we all do it, we should strive not to inasmuch as we can.

@fuzzybuddy, I didn't mean to be harsh with my comment and if I was, I apologize. I wasn't meaning to attack you or your thread. ā¤ļø

Wrong. I am easily the most boring person ever. But, I do get paid well to speak at Insomniacs Plus gatherings where I put hundreds of people to sleep for hours at a time.
I do a comedy act in Miami and have done it few times , granted '' angry comedy '' based on my observations here but people think I'm fun , life of the party but its just me venting which beats arguing with myself which I have done .

who is denying anyone a choice? is somebody saying everyone has to get a tattoo or a piercing or on the flip side, that nobody else should?

I think it is fine to have a personal preference or an opinion - eg "I prefer or am attracted to, people without tattoos or piercings" - that is different t o judging people - you have tattooos/piercings so you must be a bad person/uneducated/whatever the judgement is.

I am fairly boring - I have pierced ears only, one in each ear, and no tattoos. Am not sure what OP means by 'wanting to rip them out for health reasons'
My ears have been pierced for about 45 years and never caused me any health problems whatsoever.
