I changed a light bulb today!

When I was younger I had to change a fuse in a hi-rise construction crane. Thought I was gonna die! Now I get vertigo just looking at my shoes :)

I have a fear of heights. If I have a building under me I'm OK. I believe it's the CN Tower in Toronto that has a glass floor on the 120 floor, or so. No way in hell. If I were that bulb changer, they'd have to unweld my hands from the tower frame.

There's a new building going up across from me and there is a crane tower that is all of 6 stories high.
It is fascinating to see it in operation. There is an elevator in the tower for the operator and a small
booth from which he operates the crane.

I hope that tower isn't near an airport. It would be kind of scary to be in a final approach and not see the tower because the bulb prematurely burned out and the plane would clip the tower with it's wing. If that were to happen, it would be catastrophic.

My son works up on those VERY tall wind turbines. He says it doesn't bother him at all and with all his safety gear he feels safer than he does in his car on the road. I couldn't do it; I get a weird feeling looking down from high places -- not fear, not exactly dizzy, but a very strange disorienting feeling.
