I couldn't pass by this Millennial story

I see she's got her priorities in the right order - or position ?? I don't know why but I really liked this story - it's got a quirky touch to it and shows how the priorities of life have changed dramatically - we just made a few friends in the neighbour and maybe had a couple of pen pals and that was it!! - but I really really feel for this woman!

I knew alot of people that only would work 9-5, they wouldn't even volunteer for overtime at their 9-5 job. People have always been fickle on shifts let alone jobs they take. And yes some of those felt entitled decades ago.

I think by the late 60s early 70s is when the public education system started brainwashing the student do what you want, think career only planting the seeds of entitlement let alone unrealistic expectations. To this day students need to be taught if not told sometimes they'll have to work a job and not at their desired career. And there is a difference between a job, career and gig.

You can't always get what you want...

Uk used to be so so sweet. Got my first degree in my 20's - my employer granted 2 yrs free study leave and paid my salary and train fares to London each day. I was married with two kids. Had a ball! Career advancement was valued in those days

Fast forward 10 yrs in OZ - working full time of course - same wife and kids - attended uni 3-4 nights a week after a full days work - in those days all uni education was free apart from purchase of textbooks. two years later got my second degree. People complain now and so they showed we were the 'lucky ones' for sure!

The millennials I know wouldn't identify with her in the slightest. They're hard workers, fast learners & willing to be flexible to accomplish their goals & have a more developed sense of ethics than previous generations.

In the meantime, please remember that our generation, the boomers, was once considered the most spoiled generation in all of human history. And if the millennials are spoiled they didn't do it to themselves but by their parents and grandparents who would be us.

Did enjoy the article, thanks rt

I fulfilled my career dreams, only had to do ten years of university plus work in order to avoid huge debt. Lol. It was exhausting, no holidays or time off during that time, but so worth it!

Yup. DW and I changed careers and basically spent our 20's studying at home, in the library and working full time. But, it paid off.
