We're with you, mostly. We have a $20 flip phone. We did get it for general travel, and carry it whenever we go out in the car as an emergency backup. It has, on several occasions, proved useful such as keeping up with family members who have some type of emergency while we're traveling.
The whole thing comes down to lifestyle. We use email for most communications, and that works. But we don't have kids or family members we 'constantly' need to be in contact with. Some people do. I have a problem with the now 'pandemic' of a world staring at their phone constantly. Not communicating, just playing games, texting (that's not communicating), selfies, etc. It's become an appendage for so many people.
