I feel like disconnecting my phone

We get far more bogus calls than legitimate. If we don't see the name of someone that we want to talk to, we simply let go to the answering machine at which time they usually hang up.
 
Yep. It's an election cycle, plus the annual Medicare enrollment calls are already starting. I set the land line to mute the ringer and check the answer machine occasionally.
 

Well, I can tell you that I was congratulated for not being late on my gas bill, which means I qualify for...something, I was warned that they've been trying to get ahold of me because my car warranty had expired, Microsoft wants to talk to me about something wrong with my computer, and I am going to be arrested by the Social Security Administration.

Other than that, it was a quiet day.

What? Did you not get a call from the IRS coming to arrest you? :D
 
We got tired of these BS calls a few weeks ago, and I installed a Panasonic Call Blocker on our phone. It has 14,000 known robo call numbers, and we can add up to 2,000 more. It took a couple of weeks, but it appears that our number is being "recognized" by these crooks.....our daily calls have gone from 8 or 10, down to 2 or 3....and we block those as we get them.

We're the same, Nathan, my husband is planning on retiring in roughly 18 months, and he said once he's officially done, it's bye-bye cell phone, so having a landline will serve us well, in that when we leave the house to do our thing, they'll be no cellphone tied to our hips, and I like that.

Shut it off when we've had enough of listening to it ringing... no pressure.
 
We don't have a landline, and haven't for over a decade. I have one ringtone for my family and friends and another for everything else, which is usually telemarketers. The volume for that tone is turned way down and usually I just ignore it.
