I Got 3 Free N95 Masks At Walgreens When....

I picked up my prescriptions yesterday. I thought I'd need to request them, but it was such a crazy morning, I didn't even think about that. I wasn't planning to get the free ones anyway because I have plenty here and I was thinking I'll let the people who need them get them. When I got home and emptied the bag, I saw the masks. They are made by 3M and appear to be the type with the horizontal seam rather than vertical. I haven't opened one yet.

Did you, or will you pick up your free N95s from your local pharmacy or health center? Did you already have some KN95s on hand? Here's an article about how to get them:

Thanks for the reminder. I have a couple of elderly friends who want them. One of them ran out of paper masks, so I gave her a package of 10 that I got from "Staples." She's interested in the n95's.

If anybody finds this helpful . . .

We've kept a supply of N95 masks on hand for decades. They've come in handy at times (think, for instance, when cleaning mouse nests out of the stables). I've normally bought the 3M brand, number 8210 and they've always been very serviceable. During the pandemic we've been going through a lot more masks. For some reason, about a month ago I bought a box of Honeywell number DC300N95 masks and am very disappointed. They're flimsy, don't have an adjustable nose piece, and collapse easily on the face. Also, the elastic bands tend to break easily.

Lesson learned.

Last year, I bought a box of 50 disposable paper-type blue masks at "Staple's" for $8.00.
Yesterday, I bought another box for a friend - for $22.00.

I got 3 free N95 masks, along with a couple of free testing kits. They were distributed locally, all you had to do was go there to pick them up. I tried one of the masks and found it impossible to use. I could barely breathe, and the strap was extremely uncomfortable. So I'm back to the KN95 masks that I bought a few weeks ago.
