I got a call from Honda this morning

Wanting to schedule my car repair appointment. I said early Wednesday morning was good for me. The agent then said, "We'll put in an order for the parts, but we require a down-payment today."
Me: ......................... after a few nonplussed moments. "I only pay by check. I've been there numerous times and a check was always good. Besides, I'm an established customer."
Them: "Let me consult with the accounting department."
a minute later
Them: "Okay, we'll go ahead and let you pay the whole amount when we're done."

I guess it pays to whine in some cases.

I weighed all the factors in making my decision. I took it to three garages. One also required a credit card or a cash advance to order parts. Also, he was only going to do the one brake line and his cost, if multiplied by the 4 brake lines, would have exceeded Honda's estimate to do all 4 lines. The other was a dingy place, no parking, I found the door to the office locked and had to go around to find someone to open it and they didn't write my appointment in their schedule added to the fact his quote was almost as much as Honda's.

I figure a Honda place knows their cars best and it isn't like I didn't have enough to pay for it having had just about that amount in my IRS refund. One of these days, I'm probably going to have to give it mouth to carburetor resuscitation.
