I remember the grocery bag book covers.

One of the chains, P&C or maybe A&P 🤔, had grocery bags specially printed with instructions for book covers every fall.

I think they also used to print New York State Fair discount coupons on the grocery bags.

Here is a 70s fair coupon from the folks at Freihofer’s.

Not sure about P&C, but A&P definitely had the printed instructions along with diagrams for cutting the bag open, folding it to fit the book, and securing the flaps. We had used in the 50's into the 60's.

We made our own halloween costumes. None of this stote bought stuff. Ghosts, witches and ragamuffins were popular.
