You described me 100%Wore Out, Old & Tired
But Diva, You haven't seen me hobbling about with my cane!!There are plenty of W.O.Y.T. folks out here too, so don't feel bad. Worn Out Young and Tired....some of them act older than we seniors.
No I haven't Dave..but I remember hobbling around on one when I was in my late 30's. My calf felt like it was about to fall off after hearing my knee pop one day when I was coming up from the laundry room (outside & down a flight of cement steps). It hurt so bad, I had to call for my son to come help me (laundry room is right beneath our apartment). When I got upstairs I cried to him "I want my mommy!". An appointment was made and my mother took me to an orthopedic specialist who's demeanor was so nasty, I walked out of his office. I didn't see anyone else for a long time but until my knee felt better...I put heat on it, even while at work and had to use a cane. I was doing field work at the time too and sometimes had to make it up steps. So I know the feeling and it's not a good one at all. It is more unusual to see a young person using a cane, so I may have been a bit self conscious. But Diva, You haven't seen me hobbling about with my cane!!
Orthopedic surgeons earn their money with surgery. In most cases they'll advise it. Two decades ago a surgeon recommended me to get surgery due to my meniscus. I did not and can walk 10 miles without any problem even now.I was told by the ortho specialist in the practice that I'd need a knee replacement. That was over 10 years ago and I haven't needed one yet. I also haven't had to use a cane in a very long time.
