As for him leaving? No biggie. Some of his posts were interesting but the forum will carry on with no discernible interruption. This hardly approaches the scale of our loss of much beloved Gary O to macular degeneration and RadishRose to death.

It's surprising how quickly we are all forgotten about when we leave any forum. By far most of us aren't that important. Some of the more memorably ones taking drama (and false drama) away with them.

How is that even a thing? I wouldn't think a person could have more than one account. Different IP's? TOR? Seems like a lot of effort for what? Especially if it's, as it apparently is, obvious to other members (I confess to having no clue). Silly though, to march out and reappear wearing a trench coat and mustache classes.

I didn't have a lot of interaction with Rakaia and consequently felt generally neutral about his presence. But if he wanted to leave (which it's obvi he did), then he did what was right for him and I wish him the best in future.

Resuming regularly scheduled programming.

I don’t think it’s usually anything technical like different IPs or TOR. Most forums don’t make it that hard to create another account if someone really wants to.

And it’s not so much “obvious” in a forensic sense -- more that over time you start to recognise patterns in how people write, what they focus on, little turns of phrase, that sort of thing. The patterns start to add up.

I agree it’s a lot of effort for what it is, which is partly why it’s a bit curious when it happens.

I’m not saying that any of this is correct in this case. But if someone wants to leave, fair enough. My comment was more about the odd theatre of leaving and quietly not leaving at the same time.
