Canadian workers are much more likely to be union members, than workers in the USA. In Canada 31.8 percent of the national work force are union members, while in the USA that number is only 13.8 percent. I live in the Province of Ontario, where the largest union group are the employees of the Ontario Government, numbering 249,000 people. Those are good questions Jim but I have no idea. Pappy
Here in Toronto there are about 58,000 Uber and Lyft drivers, who must be licensed by the city of Toronto, and they must have commercial automobile insurance on their vehicle, and they must be registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency as a small business operator.
In Canada an employer cannot fire somebody without legal cause. Legal cause is usually theft on the job, threatening others at work, failing to be at work when required on a number of occasions, or drug/alcohol use in certain specific job situations like operating heavy equipment, or driving a company vehicle while intoxicated by drugs or alcohol. That will get you fired every time. JimB.
