I have a great idea on how to respond to illegal fireworks!

PTSD and autism can play a role in a dislike of fireworks.
Fear of houses burning down and kids losing limbs, fingers or their lives can also contribute to the hatred of them.

Veterans in my area also hate them because the blasts remind them of war. Many will escape and go find some cabin far away as the mayhem proceeds. These are Veterans who volunteered to go to war for us, and their fellow countrymen shoot off the illegal ones anyway. No respect.

These are not Veterans asking any city to ban the professional fireworks shows. Nor am I. Have all the PROFESSIONAL shows you want. But don't let every drunk in town blow up the neighborhood.

WHY is that such a big ask?

I don't have to read the laws, I know what they are for the state that I worked for. I was wondering what state you were in and what fireworks are illegal in that state.
Would rather not say. Oh don't worry - in about 10 years most forms of MURDER will be legal here.

That statement is absolutely ludicrous. There are 3 reasons as to what causes someone to be murdered. You probably have already heard them because most police have been repeating the reasons for years. Money, Sex or Revenge are the 3 reasons why a murder occurs.

You may think drugs would be the number one situation why people get killed, but it's really Domestic Violence, which is also a very dangerous situation for cops. When a cop gets called to a DV situation, he or she has to be hyper-vigilant because things can go wrong very quickly, especially if a weapon is involved.

VintageBetter, if you wish to seriously discuss situations & issues, why do you insist on making frivolous, far-fetched statements like that?

I think there are a couple other reasons, though much less frequent. Mob-type executions to maintain or further competitive illegal-operation control. And in many countries—Canada and U.S included, I believe—the occasional political motivation.

There was a fireworks party on a Super Yacht, tied up,
at a Greek Island, a couple of weeks ago, they set fire
to a hillside, I believe, which turned into a wildfire, the
police arrested all the crew and have the captain locked
up, awaiting trial, for arson, the ship will also be held.

Mike.
That's fair and just. I hope it sets an example for other yacht owners.

I've spent a few 4ths up at my cabin in the mountains that's within walking distance from a lake, and it was really nerve-racking to have to hike down there to watch and worry while hair-brained visitors shot certain types of fireworks off their boats. The resort owners would post signs every year saying which fireworks were strictly prohibited, but some people ignored them.

That's all in the past-tense because now they don't allow any fireworks whatsoever....not since 2011, I think it was.

I make far-fetched statements like that in an attempt to be humorous and out of frustration with our systems.

#4 - random act of violence.
#5 - innocent bystander
#6 - mass shooter is seriously menally ill. Example: the Las Vegas shooter who killed 60 people at that concert. What was HIS beef? Hater of country music?

#4, #5 and #6 are all related. Reread my post again. It states, "There are 3 reasons as to what causes someone to be murdered."

Mass or serial killings are usually acted out by people with a psychosis. The FBI stats have shown that murders (usually one on one) are generally perpetrated because of one of the 3 reasons they have listed. We also find this to be true.

Most all mob murders are over money. This is what put them and keeps them in business, Political motivation is questionable to me. I have no idea what those murders are. Can you give an example?

Yes, clearly it's basicially the case that mob (or gang) stuff has money at its root. Apparently at times a murder in that context can happen by way of resentment... somebody insults a guy in some other gang, or someone is insubordinate too often within a gang. (Not that I'm any expert on this stuff.)

Another type of thing. Among an immigrant group from some part of the world, some ethnic/political conflict from the 'old country' can carry over into the new country, and an assassination occurs. I seem to remember there's been more than one incident like this in Canada, involving political passions related to conflict over ethnic territory back in India. As I mentioned, this sort of thing doesn't happen often, though it happens.

No thanks. I wanted a silly parade and now this thread has drifted off into murder. Maybe you need to start a new thread for that topic?

You're the one that allowed it to "drift" off to murder. (Post #28)
I'm not the moderator, nor do I control the thoughts and ideas of others. Man, if I could make anything, anywhere “drift”, oh the changes and improvements you would see!

And if you don’t like the “drift” of any thread, report postings to the moderator.

I never raised the issue and I have no opinion of the "drift." In fact, I couldn't care less. If I get into a mouth battle, I just stop posting in that thread.

Changes? Probably
Improvements? Unlikely
