I have a serious addiction

I used to buy a bunch of candy for the 'trick-or-treaters' ( 🙂), but they never showed up. DARN!!! So, in sheer desperation, I had to eat it all myself. That took me back to when I was a kid, and as soon as I got home from trick-or-treating ,and I pounced on the candy. And in a couple of days, the only thing left was that lousy apple some %&@875 gave me.
Happy addiction.
When I bought our Halloween candy last year, Michelle asked me "Why did you buy so much? We only had a few kids last year..and the year before."

For the first time ever, it took me a minute to come up with a persuasive justification.

She saw right through it.

I guess it would be wrong for me to chuckle about that. You lost me on the part Jewish part though.

I told my husband about the Reese’s pieces and he left and said they wouldn’t see dinner time if I opened them at lunch.
Jews are famous for using guilt to sort of manipulate people. It's a cliche that goes way back.

Also, we like to get laughs, so chuckle, at the very least.

If I'd have to stop eating Reese's PB Cups, it better be in-patient.

Joking aside, I've never been crazy-fond of candy, even when I was a kid. This relationship I have with Reese's started fairly recently. Makes me wonder if there's an ingredient in it that I'm not getting enough of from my regular diet. That's usually what causes cravings.

I'm not stressing over it, though. I can still take 'em or leave 'em, but they sure are yummy.

After this thread, I bought my husband two Reese’s Pieces bars today. He thought the man in front of them had forgot part of his order. It’s totally because of Murr’s addiction, that I thought to buy these. (Yuck).

I can understand the Reese's obsession. I thought I had it handled but then I decided to try the Reese's ice cream. Now that has become somewhat of an obsession of mine since I do like ice cream over candy. The Reese's flavored ice cream taste is a little different from the cups but close enough to satisfy the ice cream and Reese's obsession. I'm screwed.

He was all "What? Really? For me?"

I bet he's still not over it.

It may be a valid point, but I feel the guilt after I eat about 5 or 6 of them.
Apparently, we're not alone.

Craving chocolate bars is so common among seniors, particularly men, it prompted researchers to conduct a study. The study concluded that the main driver appears to be a deficiency in the minerals magnesium and zinc.

(A later study was done on seniors with dementia who crave all sorts of candy, not just chocolate bars. It concluded that the craving is a natural response to glucose imbalances.)

Hey! That apple might have had a razor in it. o_O

I have to admit that they can look tempting. Some of us can't handle high doses of pure sugar any more though.

At least I still have all of my teeth and some of my marbles.
"Pure sugar" would be candies like Skittles and everyone's least favorite, Candy Corn.

Reese's PB Cups contain plenty of sugar, but also protein-packed peanuts and chocolate, which contains iron, magnesium, copper, and manganese. The darker the chocolate, the more minerals it contains.

When I was a kid, my favorite candy was licorice, and the purer, the better. It contains glycyrrhizin, which has anti-viral properties, and glycyrrhetinic acid, which is a natural anti-inflammatory.

I'm not promoting including candy in your everyday diet, though. Obviously too much sugar isn't good for anyone.

He’s going to be thrilled when he opens the bread drawer (yes, that’s where I store the desserts too), when he sees two more bars and 2 bags of thin PBs done in dark chocolate. I also bought a box of PB brownie mix. No calories will land on my butt; there’s not a bats chance that I’d eat any of them.

Love the pb cups too but now I have a bag of Brach's candy corn. I allow myself one bag a year and that is now. Has to be Brachs. The Walmart brand is awful!!
