I am a highly motivated Octogenarian that wants to hear. I was approved yesterday after my extensive hearing test by the Audiologist for the Veterans Administration in Palo Alto, Ca. He will be ordering the COCHLEAR equipment that I will need. I am to see the ENT doctor shortly for his examination and to set a surgery date with him. I am a Korean War Vet that started loosing his hearing as a young man working on F 86 Sabre Jet instruments and later B47 jet bombers. As the years rolled on my hearing became progressively worse and I had had purchased a number of hearing aids at my own expense not realizing that I had a service connected disability. I know that the implant is not a PLUG & Play thing and that I will have to study and learn which I am prepared to do.

I wish there was a remedy for Tinnitus. I have had this ringing going on in both of my ears for some 14 years. The left ear is much, much worse than the right ear. I think it happened either from wearing a headset for so many years or from jet engines being run up.
