My take is that well run businesses with skilled managers tend to attract and hold onto good employees and succeed. Poorly run businesses and unskilled managers do not and eventually fail. A sort of "business darwinism".Yes, good customer service is a thing of the past, and it seems like new employees are at the same places I use almost every week. Not that many years ago it wasn't unusual to see the same store staff for years.
